Volume 1, Chapter 27: I Am the Murderer
Of course, as Lu Li became increasingly adept at luring monsters, every new group he brought in was larger than the last.
"Xue'er, move yourself," Lu Li said, turning back to fire a shot at the water sprite. The shot missed; the person hiding on the stairs seemed to understand Lu Li’s predicament and was coordinating with others to pin him down.
The Wave Team showed no mercy. They knew their opponents' signature heroes well, banning the most threatening ones like Diaochan and Yuange, and then, true to their word, they locked in Marco Polo for the jungle.
"I am sorry, Lord Nefarian. I have failed you," the adult dragonkin gasped, clutching his chest as he slowly collapsed.
A gentle breeze brushed against Lan's temples, disheveling her hair. She gathered the strands, pulled a hair tie from her pocket, and casually bound them into a ponytail.
"You are too modest, Your Highness. Your men were merely used as pawns; I will not hold it against them." With these words, Liu Xin turned his gaze toward Yin Dongming Shi.
Chu Xian and Xie Guanglin had become acquainted. Come to think of it, after Chu Xian arrived, he found that everyone else avoided him as if he were a plague, except for Xie Guanglin, who had come over to greet him. At first, Chu Xian was wary, but after a conversation, he realized that Xie Guanglin was a decent man, or at the very least, candid.
Perhaps due to the body-tempering, Chu Xian’s physique was far more robust than before, and he had even grown an inch taller. Considering this had happened in just over ten days, the efficacy was remarkable, proving the distinct advantages of orthodox martial body-tempering.
Reflecting on this, Li Chou was in no rush to hunt for treasure. He had not forgotten his primary objective: to find clues in this mustard-seed ring regarding the whereabouts of Hua Tan’s sister.
"Do they think us brothers are easy to bully?" a bandit standing near the burly man asked, his voice full of indignation as he watched Han Yang’s "one man against ten thousand" stance.
"Is that so?" Mei Wan hurriedly prepared to pull out her mirror to see if something about her appearance looked strange.
Sheng Xiaonan and I asked our questions with specific intent. Even though we knew it was unlikely to find the person who owned the login email through this channel, we still asked with a poker face. If we didn't ask, we wouldn't even have a reason to give up entirely.
What else could she say? Previously, she had been forced into a deal with him to remain incognito. Now, she only wanted to regain her freedom as quickly as possible.
"What do we do, Brother Duyu? We cannot hesitate any longer. Let’s act now. Even if we are to be destroyed, let it be on the battlefield. We will not be deserters," Chen Xuan said to Duyu, his voice firm and resolute.
"Zhiyu, stay calm. Let us face this with composure! However, you cannot deny that the Moon Star people possess a certain degree of telepathy!" Mo Yin waved his hand and said to Huang Zhiyu.
It was Mei Wan's first time shooting an advertisement, so she was inevitably nervous. After she had walked away that day, Daisy hadn't even shown up today. She was likely disappointed in her.
As Mu Bingyue and the others had anticipated, once the Flame Army moved, the hidden guards followed suit. However, they had to master the timing, or the effect would be lackluster.
With that, I pulled the slide with a click and tossed the gun through the only doorway. Sheng Xiaonan tilted her body slightly, caught the weapon without a moment’s hesitation, and opened fire on the figures closing in from the front.
Xie Tingfeng closed his eyes, carefully sensing the internal and external manifestations of the laws of time. A month later, it was as if he were bathed in water, his body shimmering with ripples. Sometimes it flowed like a waterfall, sometimes it remained perfectly still, and sometimes it seemed to be flowing backward, drawing him into a state both mysterious and profound.
"Unless you leaked it to them yourself." Mei Wan's expression shifted as the reason suddenly dawned on her. Lu Yao had only decided to invite her to lunch that morning. Even if reporters had been staking out the place, they couldn't have been so brazen as to surround her unless Lu Yao had tacitly permitted it.
Yet, it was far more beautiful than a man-eating flower, for this was the only guiding flower of the Underworld—the Manjusaka. It had flowers but no leaves, and its blossoms were the most enchanting of all.
But everything ended in disappointment. There was no beautiful world hidden behind the tunnel, only a hollow cave. This cave was not much different from the one we had been in before; the only difference was that there was another exit on the opposite side.
Because of this foolish bird, the Demon Realm had nearly been destroyed. As the Shadow Lord of the demon race, he would refine some of this bird's demonic energy, treating it as a contribution toward atoning for its past mistakes.
He still did not let her go, and Su Nian'an closed her eyes. She did not know how much longer she could remain in this standoff with him. The more he called her name, the weaker her defenses became, but she could not surrender. This time, she had to leave.
Ye Xiao stared straight at Qiu Xuan and asked, "Is this your true heart speaking?" Ye Xiao had been an emperor for so many years; was he so easily fooled? Could he not see through Qiu Xuan's perfunctory attitude? Ye Xiao’s gaze was like a physical weight, pressing hard upon him.
"Damn it! Why didn't you tell me sooner! You made me look like a lunatic to them!" Saying this, he struck out at Jun Cang, who continued to laugh and flee.
After the transfer of the Flying Fish was complete, we moved our luggage on board. It was just Yuko, Nalan Xue, Tianxin, and me on this trip; I had sent Miaomiao back to Beijing to handle the arrangements for the Wulu Miao tribe's entry into the capital.
The group had barely spoken a few words when the chief examiner arrived, preceded by two princes.
Who told him to fall for Han Junyu's trap in the first place, insisting on pitting himself against the tiger-wolf demons? If he had just been content to stay in his own small corner, none of this would be happening now.
The men in black were highly skilled; they must have been from an expensive overseas mercenary group. To be able to hire such people, one required both status and wealth.
