After Dr. Deng went downstairs, the four of them temporarily suppressed the irritation in their hearts and held a brief team meeting.

Chen Tianyu grabbed his hair and said resentfully, "What on earth is this 'It'? Why does everyone make it sound so ominous?"

Zhang Deshuai lay on the sofa and replied lazily, "Why think so much? We're going to see it tomorrow anyway."

"However, judging from the current information, 'It' is the origin of the entire dream, and everything within this dream was created by 'It'."

Wang Shuhan poked the Overseer's face. "Does that include you too?"

The Overseer scratched his head. "Every living creature here, including myself, has known since we first gained memories that 'It' is an existence surpassing everything. No one can defy 'It', and no one can defeat 'It'."

"This isn't even something that can be called common sense; it's something we were born with, deeply engraved in the bottom of our hearts, impossible to erase."

Wang Shuhan curled her lips. "If that's the case, what's the point of even fighting? We might as well just surrender."

After discussing for a long time, the group still could not reach a conclusion. Wu Que, who had remained silent all along, slowly spoke up.

"Don't you all feel that everyone in this dream is hyping 'It' up?"

As soon as his words left his mouth, the previously chatterbox-like crowd instantly fell silent. Even the Overseer looked at Wu Que with keen interest.

"I don't mean they are lying. Just as the Overseer said, ever since they were born into this dream, the idea that 'It' is invincible has been branded into them. And because we haven't seen 'It' ourselves, we keep asking the people in this dream, eventually receiving a uniform reply: that 'It' is an existence surpassing everything, no one can defy 'It', and no one can defeat 'It'."

"Are you saying that the more frightened we are, the stronger 'It' becomes?" Zhang Deshuai also sat up from the sofa and spoke.

"It's not that simple," Wu Que said in a deep voice.

"There must be something more important, but we've overlooked it."

He stroked the rough hilt of the black blade, stood up, and said to the others, "I want to rest now, and I advise you all not to think too much."

"When we meet 'It' tomorrow, the truth will naturally surface."

After saying that, he walked downstairs and came to the blue plastic chairs.

The little Kangkangs sat in a row. Not knowing whether they had heard the quarrel among the people upstairs just now, they appeared somewhat constrained. They lowered their heads, picked at their fingers, and unconsciously puckered their lips.

Wu Que stood in front of the four identical little boys, smiled, leaned down, and said, "Kangkang, don't be afraid."

"Do you know what? Just now, Dr. Deng told big brother that things are already getting better."

As soon as his words fell, the Kangkangs all stopped their movements and looked at him in unison. A trace of radiance burst forth in their moisture- and tear-filled eyes.

What Wu Que wanted was precisely this radiance, and he completely understood the meaning behind it.

He remembered very clearly that when he and his younger sister were sitting in the ICU waiting room, whenever a person in a white lab coat walked out of those heavy doors, this exact radiance would burst forth in the eyes of the two siblings.

They would approach the doctor with that light in their eyes to talk, only for that light to slowly extinguish during the conversation, over and over again.

In the end, due to immense pressure and despair about the future, the two siblings even began to hurl harsh words at each other, uttering the most piercing things to the people they cared about most.

And within this medical clinic, the inexplicable irritability and hostility in everyone's hearts, the doctor's silence, and the light in the children's eyes were all things he was far too familiar with.

Wu Que smiled again, gently patted the heads of the four children one by one, and said in a soft, affectionate tone, "Big brothers and sisters are a bit tired. Can you go find your own big brothers and sisters and let them go rest?"

"Okay!"

"Okay!"

"Okay!"

"Okay!"

Hearing his words, the children cheered up again. The Kangkang who had followed Wu Que was the first to jump off the bench, taking Wu Que's hand, while the remaining three children giggled, pushing and playfully shoving each other as they went upstairs. Before long, sounds of coaxing children echoed throughout the reception room.

Wu Que held Kangkang's small hand, tightening his grip unconsciously. Looking at the dust and mud stains on the child's face, he led him into the lounge.

As soon as they entered the lounge, a spacious washroom came into view. Overjoyed, Wu Que took Kangkang and gave him a comfortable, relaxing hot bath.

After the bath, Wu Que wiped his long hair dry and wrapped a thick bath towel around Kangkang. On the table in the lounge sat a bucket of milk, a large piece of butter-and-pork-floss bread, and a few thick-cut sausages. Wu Que cut the bread into pieces, sandwiched the sausages inside, and shared the first fine meal after entering the dream with Kangkang.

The bread was soft and fluffy, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the sweetness of butter and the savory saltiness of pork floss complementing each other perfectly. Paired with the rich, smooth, chilled milk, it stimulated Wu Que's taste buds.

Bite after bite, he chewed carefully and ate slowly.

By the time he finished his meal, Kangkang had already fallen asleep.

Wu Que walked over to the bed and looked at the sleeping child.

He saw that Kangkang had wrapped himself up like a little rice dumpling, every inch of his skin clinging tightly to the quilt as he curled up in the corner of the bed, breathing evenly.

Wu Que had once read some books on child psychology; this was a manifestation of a child's extreme lack of a sense of security.

Choosing not to wake Kangkang, he consciously walked to the other side of the bed. First, he pulled the quilt completely over his body, then tucked it evenly and smoothly underneath himself, and finally buried his head inside the quilt, curling up his legs.

Ever since the drastic changes in his family, Wu Que could only fall asleep in this exact posture.

Feeling the warmth and softness of the quilt over him and the breath he exhaled into it, Wu Que drifted into a deep sleep before long.

It wasn't until the sun rose the next day that the big rice dumpling slowly woke up from his slumber.

He rubbed his sleepy eyes and walked over to the table in the lounge. This morning's menu was fried eggs and warm milk with calcium-milk biscuits.

Wu Que actually had somewhat childish tastes; seeing the food on the table, his appetite surged instantly, and he began to eat before he had even fully opened his eyes.

After a hearty meal, he looked at Kangkang, who was still murmuring in his sleep, and decided not to wake him. He turned around, washed up, and stepped out the door.

When he first met Kangkang, Wu Que had subconsciously assumed that this child would be the mother's guiding figure in the "lust" dream, or perhaps the key to breaking the deadlock.

But now, his thoughts had shifted, and his subconscious also told him that bringing the Kangkangs before the dream demon did not seem like a wise choice.

And the moment he stepped out the door, the system's cold prompt tone rang out once again.
