Yu Yunxi touched the top of her head, glaring at Lin Yu with defiance. She was no longer as tense as before.

“Of course, people like you who benefit from the system would never understand,” Yu Yunxi muttered as she carefully checked the video on her phone. Unfortunately, she had only managed to record a few words at the very beginning—completely useless. She could only delete it quietly, then picked up her phone to take some photos of the scenery, capturing the dining environment around her.

The reputation of this Hong Kong Island restaurant was well-deserved, especially these VIP seats. They offered the best view in the entire place, separated from the regular area by nothing more than a simple screen—yet that one screen was enough to divide two worlds.

The restaurant’s lighting was not the usual incandescent, but rather dim, with candles flickering on many tables, creating an intimate atmosphere perfect for private conversations.

Yu Yunxi was already planning in her mind to write another critical piece about the Hong Kong Island restaurant when she got home.

“You’ve been getting along well with Shen Huaiqing lately, haven’t you?” Lin Yu clasped his hands under his chin, looking at her with a sly glint in his eye.

Yu Yunxi could guess that Lin Yu would certainly inquire about Song Hui. It seemed he didn’t yet know that she had discovered Song Hui’s true identity.

She picked up her glass of lemon water and took a sip. “Quite well. We get along easily.”

“President Lin, are you always so interested in other people’s wives?” Yu Yunxi raised an eyebrow at him. Once she went into alert mode, she forgot all about gender—anyone before her became nothing but an adversary.

Lin Yu was about to speak when the waiter arrived with their food.

“Let’s eat first,” Lin Yu said, making a polite gesture for her to begin.

He deftly laid the white napkin across his lap, picked up his knife and fork, and began to slice into his rare steak with unhurried elegance, every movement radiating the air of a young aristocrat.

But Yu Yunxi stared at the still “bleeding” steak before her, unable to bring herself to eat it. Even when eating Western cuisine, she only ever ordered her steak well-done.

She felt awkward about asking for help—who knew what strange rules a place this fancy might have? Her brow furrowed with distaste as she carefully cut a small piece and reluctantly put it in her mouth, forcing it down.

Lin Yu took in her discomfort at a glance and pressed the service bell.

“Please bring this lady a well-done steak,” he instructed.

The waiter nodded, smiling as he removed her plate. “We’re truly sorry you had an unpleasant experience, miss. We’ll bring you another right away.”

It was a small matter, but the waiter’s attitude left Yu Yunxi a little flustered. She quickly returned the smile. “It’s nothing, thank you for your trouble.”

After the waiter left, Yu Yunxi looked at Lin Yu, a little uncertain. “Proper Western food is always served rare or medium-rare. Did I embarrass myself?”

Lin Yu tore off a piece of toast, dipped it in garlic butter, and said in an unhurried tone, “Even if we asked for chopsticks, they’d consider it a statement of style.”

“Yu Yunxi, once you reach a certain class, whatever you do is right. Like just now—the waiter only thought she’d failed to satisfy you. She feared you might cause her trouble; she had no mind to think of anything else.” Lin Yu’s eyes, usually bright and seductive, now held a shadowy, unreadable depth.

His words were profound, and for a moment Yu Yunxi couldn’t digest them. She stared steadily at the silver knife and fork in her hand, his words swirling in her mind like a dark vortex.

The new, well-done steak suited her much better. The smell alone made her suddenly ravenous, and she forgot about appearances, tucking in hungrily.

After the main course came dessert. By coincidence, Lin Yu had ordered her a chocolate mousse cake—her favorite.

“So, why did you ask me here today?” Yu Yunxi asked as she scooped a bit of cake into her mouth. It truly melted on her tongue—a rich, lingering sweetness, worthy of a first-class dessert.

Lin Yu leaned back lazily in his chair and said offhandedly, “Shen Huaiqing is pregnant, isn’t she?”

Yu Yunxi’s expression froze, but she quickly smiled. “Not as far as I know. Where did you hear such gossip, President Lin?”

“Do you think you can keep this a secret?” Lin Yu’s figure was half-shrouded in the dim light, his expression unreadable, but his voice grew distinctly colder.

Yu Yunxi’s composure remained unshaken—Lin Yu’s probing words would not faze her.

“If there’s nothing to hide, why talk about keeping secrets?” she replied with a sweet smile, a smear of chocolate at the corner of her mouth, looking perfectly innocent.

Lin Yu sat up, resting his elbows on the table, one eye catching the light, a coldness settling in his gaze.

“Do you and she take me and Fu Chen for fools?”

He slammed his phone down before her. On its screen was Shen Huaiqing’s pregnancy test report, the name reading Song Hui.

Yu Yunxi had seen this document before and knew it was genuine. She steadied herself and replied calmly.

“First of all, I don’t know any Song Hui. Secondly, this is something you should ask Shen Huaiqing herself, not me.”

A cold sneer curled Lin Yu’s lips as he narrowed his eyes at her. “Didn’t expect it—you’re just as good an actress as she is.” He tilted his chin and said lightly, “I just want you to tell her that Fu Chen asked me to investigate this matter. I haven’t told him the truth yet. If she doesn’t want him to find out, she’d better come see me. I have something I need her help with.”

“Then why not just ask her out directly?” Yu Yunxi shot back.

Lin Yu suddenly reached across the table, his slender fingers hooking her delicate chin, his lips parting with a hint of sensuality.

“Because I’m very interested in you. I want to see what kind of person you really are.”

Yu Yunxi immediately brushed his hand away, her eyes blazing. “Please show some respect. I am not one of your company’s actresses.”

Her words carried a certain pointed accusation.

Lin Yu wasn’t annoyed by her rebuff. Instead, he regarded her with playful interest. “Don’t you want to work with DreamZe Entertainment?”

That did spark her interest. DreamZe Entertainment was the top entertainment company in Nancheng, with access to the best fashion resources and celebrity gossip—far beyond what MK could reach.

She admitted she was tempted.

“What are the terms?” From her past encounters, Yu Yunxi had already guessed the way men like Lin Yu operated: nothing for nothing.

“When the time comes, help me with Shen Huaiqing.”

Yu Yunxi’s eyes flickered. “If she agrees, then so do I.”

A sly smile appeared on Lin Yu’s face.

“She’ll agree.”
