Chapter Eleven: Is Your Father Crazy?

Upon hearing Lin Qiaosheng mention the Hundred Sects Competition, Zhou Shuo’s expression softened considerably. This competition was crucial to all cultivation sects, shaping the distribution of benefits for the coming century. Originating millennia ago and held once every hundred years, it allowed any cultivation sect in the world—regardless of whether they followed the path of righteousness or darkness—to participate. Ultimately, the rankings achieved by each sect determined their rights to mine spiritual stone veins for the next hundred years.
During the competition, the disciples’ battles served mainly as practice and honing of skills. The true contest, deciding the final rankings, was fought among the elders of the sects themselves. There were strict requirements for these elder participants: their bone age could not exceed three hundred years. Across the entire cultivation world, elders meeting this standard generally ranged between the Nascent Soul and Tribulation Transcendence realms. Very few had crossed into the Emperor realm.
Therefore, Lin Qiaosheng had staked the future prosperity of the Vast Sea Sect on Lin Junxiu. This was why he repeatedly indulged Lin Junxiu’s arrogance, and Lin Junxiu, aware of this, grew increasingly brazen.
Seeing Zhou Shuo’s mood ease, Lin Qiaosheng sighed softly, “Junior brother, I’m sorry you’ve been wronged for the sake of the sect.”
Zhou Shuo gritted his teeth. “Fine, I’ll tolerate it this once. But if he dares to do it again, I’ll burn everything to the ground—I won’t let him off easily!”
Lin Qiaosheng hastily nodded. “Don’t worry, I’ll talk to him.”
Then he shifted the topic tentatively, “Do you really have an eighth-grade spirit herb in your possession?”
Zhou Shuo’s eyes widened, his voice sharp, “Don’t even think about it—that’s for Tong’er’s facial treatment!”
Hearing Zhou Shuo mention Zhou Tong, Lin Qiaosheng suddenly felt as if he had overlooked something important. He quickly turned to look at her. When he saw her face clearly, his pupils contracted sharply, and he exclaimed excitedly, “Tong’er, is she healed?”
Zhou Shuo shook his head. “No, it’s only temporarily concealed.”
He didn’t tell Lin Qiaosheng about Wan Yi giving Zhou Tong the concealer, offering only vague words instead. Lin Qiaosheng, however, grew thoughtful, eyes narrowing as he spoke gravely, “I understand. Take good care of Tong’er. I’ll go and reprimand Lin Junxiu right away.”
With that, he leapt up, transforming into a streak of light flying toward Junxiu Peak.
Earlier, the conversation between Lin Qiaosheng and Zhou Shuo had not been concealed from those present. Seeing these two influential figures of the Vast Sea Sect so concerned about Zhou Tong, Wan Yi’s curiosity deepened.
As he wondered what was going on, Zhou Tong’s sudden call of “Father” nearly made his jaw drop.

By now, Bai Qitai had helped Elder Hong Yu to her feet, though her condition seemed poor. Seeing her swaying, Zhou Tong hurried over and supported her other arm, anxiously calling out to Zhou Shuo, “Father, please check on Elder Hong Yu. She seems seriously injured!”
Hearing this, Zhou Shuo quickly examined Elder Hong Yu’s wounds. After a moment, he exhaled in relief, “Nothing major. With the restorative elixir and a few days’ rest, she’ll recover.”
He then looked at Bai Qitai, “You should take Hong Yu back for treatment.”
After they left, only Zhou Shuo, his daughter, and Wan Yi remained in the medicinal field.
Wan Yi felt utterly awkward—like flirting with a female soldier in the army only to discover her father was the commanding officer.
As he nervously tapped the ground with his toes, Zhou Shuo approached him, scrutinizing him from head to toe, then nodded slightly, “You’re quite impressive.”
Without another word, he leapt away.
Wan Yi was stunned, thinking, “What was that about? He just left? What does ‘you’re quite impressive’ even mean?”
Meanwhile, Zhou Tong timidly approached Wan Yi, lowering her head and murmuring, “Xiao Yi Yi, I hope you’re not angry that I kept my identity hidden. I’ve wanted to tell you for a long time but never found the right moment. You won’t be mad at me, right?”
Her voice grew softer, clearly feeling guilty as her small hands fidgeted with her clothes.
At the moment she spoke, Wan Yi already guessed what she was thinking. He reached out to ruffle her hair, “Silly girl, you’re overthinking. If anyone’s to blame, it’s me for not asking about your background, so you never said.”
“Really? You truly think that?”
“Of course.”
“Then from now on…”
“Just like before.”
“Yay!”
As they spoke, Zhou Shuo returned.
With a swift “whoosh,” he landed in front of Wan Yi and wordlessly tossed him a storage pouch before flying off again.
Staring at the unexpected pouch in his hands, Wan Yi looked at Zhou Tong in disbelief, “Is your father crazy?!”

That night, Wan Yi sat cross-legged inside his humble straw hut. After slowly coming out of meditation, he opened his eyes and exhaled heavily, murmuring to himself, “The Vast Sea Sect’s cultivation methods for low-ranking disciples are truly terrible. My body’s aptitude isn’t great to begin with, and practicing such basic techniques won’t speed up my progress at all.”
After this lament, he pulled out the storage pouch Zhou Shuo had given him earlier. From inside, he took a porcelain bottle, poured out a Qi Recovery Pill, and popped it into his mouth.
He felt a surge of satisfaction. “Thankfully, the sect leader was generous enough to give me so many Qi pills. With these, I should quickly reach the Foundation Establishment stage. Once there, I’ll qualify to enter the Transmission Hall and select advanced cultivation methods.”
Meanwhile, the night at Junxiu Peak was far from peaceful.
Lin Junxiu knelt on his meditation cushion, face flickering with restless expressions as he replayed the day’s events in his mind. Especially when facing Wan Yi, his cultivation technique had seemed utterly useless—like a stone sinking into the sea—which made his heart increasingly anxious.
He thought to himself, “Could this kid be hiding some treasure that counters me? If so, does this treasure only affect me, or all Emperor realm masters?”
The thought unsettled him instantly. Feeling his heartbeat quicken, Lin Junxiu grew restless.
“If such a treasure really exists and ends up in my hands, then who in this world could ever oppose me again?!”
With that resolve, Lin Junxiu rose and hurriedly left his room. He intended to capture that Wan Yi fellow for a soul search to uncover exactly what secret he was hiding.
At that moment, while meditating, Wan Yi’s internal technique, the Emperor-Slaying Art, suddenly surged wildly. Along with it came an inexplicable sense of panic.
He knew this feeling well—it was the technique’s warning. Before Lin Junxiu appeared during the day, the Emperor-Slaying Art had given the same signal.
This reaction meant an Emperor realm expert was nearby.
Awakened, Wan Yi quickly rose and stepped outside his hut, vigilantly scanning his surroundings.
Just then, a cold voice sounded from behind him: “You, there’s definitely something strange about you!”
