Chapter Nine: Arrogance

The speaker’s attitude was arrogant and his words were disrespectful. Seeing this, Zhou Tong raised her eyebrows and was about to step forward to argue. Unexpectedly, just as she was about to move, a red shadow flashed by and stood in front of her.
Upon recognizing the newcomer, Zhou Tong halted and, together with Wan Yi, cupped their hands respectfully, saying, “Greetings, Elder Hong Yu!”
Hong Yu nodded at the two, then turned and clasped his fist in salute to the leader of the three men, saying, “Disciple Hong Yu greets Chief Lin Junxiu of Junxiu Peak. May I ask what brings the Chief to our Danfeng Herb Garden?”
Hearing Elder Hong Yu’s words, Wan Yi thought to himself, “So that’s Lin Junxiu, the Chief of Junxiu Peak! He’s a legendary figure in the Vast Sect in recent years. During his external training, he discovered a secret realm and inherited the legacy of a deceased Emperor-level master, becoming the youngest Emperor-level expert. But rumors say his character leaves much to be desired.”
The reality seemed to confirm Wan Yi’s suspicions. The man merely glanced arrogantly at Elder Hong Yu without replying, as if to say, “Who are you to speak to me?”
Observing their master’s demeanor, the previously speaking disciple from Junxiu Peak arrogantly ordered Elder Hong Yu, “So you’re the Herb Garden elder? Perfect timing. My master recently felt inspired and wishes to open the furnace for pill refining. Follow the instructions on this jade slip and quickly gather the spiritual herbs!”
At that, he raised his hand and presented a jade slip before Elder Hong Yu.
Her expression instantly darkened. As a Nascent Soul stage cultivator, she had no intention of being ordered around by a Foundation Establishment stage disciple.
Lin Junxiu was an Emperor-level powerhouse, so she could tolerate him. But a lowly Foundation Establishment disciple? What right did he have?
With that thought, Elder Hong Yu’s voice grew cold: “This is Danfeng, not your Junxiu Peak! Danfeng has its own rules, unlike you who understand neither etiquette nor discipline. If you want spiritual herbs, follow our procedures. Take your request to our peak master for approval. If he consents, then come to collect them; if not, you won’t get a single strand!”
The disciple’s face flushed dark with anger. Elder Hong Yu’s words clearly mocked Junxiu Peak’s lack of manners.
Though emboldened by his master’s status to act arrogantly, when facing a Nascent Soul elder like Hong Yu, he dared not make a move.

After all, she was a Nascent Soul cultivator, two grand realms above himself. Any rash action would only lead to his own humiliation.
Ashamed and furious, he turned to his master.
Elder Hong Yu was known for her fiery temper. She could respect Lin Junxiu’s status, but she would not tolerate a lowly Foundation Establishment disciple behaving arrogantly in Danfeng.
Moreover, she was certain Lin Junxiu, as a majestic Emperor-level peak master, would not sully his reputation by attacking a Nascent Soul elder. So she subtly reprimanded the disciple.
But unexpectedly, she was mistaken.
The disciple was arrogant, but Lin Junxiu was even more so. As the disciple glanced back, Lin Junxiu suddenly emitted a wave of pressure and unleashed it toward Elder Hong Yu.
Caught off guard by the sudden attack, Elder Hong Yu spat a mouthful of blood, her knees buckled, and she collapsed to the ground, pinned immobile by the overwhelming pressure.
Lin Junxiu sneered coldly, “Talking to me about rules? You’re not worthy!”
The two disciples accompanying him smirked coldly at Elder Hong Yu.
Then Lin Junxiu’s voice rang out again, “Zhu Peng, didn’t she just lecture you on rules? Go teach her what Junxiu Peak’s rules truly are!”
Upon hearing this, Zhu Peng bowed and said, “As you command.”
He smiled wickedly, shaking his wrist as he approached Elder Hong Yu.
Pinned to the ground and unable to speak, Elder Hong Yu could only watch helplessly as Zhu Peng drew nearer, her eyes burning with rage.
This scene enraged both Wan Yi and Zhou Tong to the point of smoke coming out of their ears. They had seen arrogance before, but nothing this brazen.
Wan Yi cursed inwardly, “Damn you, what so-called Emperor-level powerhouse! If there weren’t so many people here, I’d guarantee to kill you with the Emperor-Slaying Technique!”
Meanwhile, having given his order to Zhu Peng, Lin Junxiu glanced faintly toward the distance.
Behind a tree, Bai Qitai quickly whispered, “Chief, Lin Junxiu is outrageously arrogant. Should we intervene?”
Zhou Shuo, holding the transmission jade slip, shook his head resignedly: “Let’s wait and see. I’ve already sent a message to the Sect Leader; he’ll arrive soon. My cultivation is only at the late Tribulation stage, while Lin Junxiu has crossed into Emperor realm. Acting rashly now would only bring disgrace.”
Bai Qitai urged anxiously, “But Miss—”
Zhou Shuo’s gaze turned icy as he stared coldly at Lin Junxiu and said to Bai Qitai, “Don’t worry, he won’t harm Tong’er.”
Before he could finish, the situation changed.
Zhou Tong, unable to stand seeing Elder Hong Yu humiliated, suddenly flashed forward, placing herself before the elder and scolding the advancing Zhu Peng, “What do you think you’re doing?!”
Startled, Zhu Peng’s expression shifted when he recognized Zhou Tong.
She had applied concealer, her beauty surpassing even flowers, leaving Zhu Peng astonished.
A sly smile curled his lips as he leered, “Oh? Didn’t expect such a stunning beauty in Danfeng! Little sister, why not come back with me to Junxiu Peak? Master just taught me a set of dual cultivation techniques; we could have a proper… discussion.”
Due to a scar on her face, Zhou Tong usually kept to herself; only a few young disciples in the Vast Sect had seen her. Though Zhu Peng had heard rumors, with the concealer, he couldn’t connect the two. Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare insult her even with ten lives.
Zhu Peng failed to recognize her, but Lin Junxiu had already identified Zhou Tong. Yet he only glanced briefly toward the distance and did not stop Zhu Peng’s lewd words. Inwardly, he thought, “Old man, let’s see how much longer you can tolerate this!”
As expected, upon seeing his daughter insulted, Zhou Shuo exploded. But just as he was about to step forward, a figure, faster than him, blocked Zhou Tong’s front.
Wan Yi, stepping on the Cloud Sea Steps Technique, left a residual shadow and charged toward Zhu Peng with a “whoosh.”
His speed and movements were beyond imagination.
The next moment, the shadow surrounded Zhu Peng, and the sharp slaps echoed clearly to all present.
Wan Yi struck Zhu Peng’s face while cursing, “You bastard born without a father to teach you! Today, I’ll teach you a lesson in place of your father!”
