Chapter 15: A Tour of the Guests' Residences
Upon seeing the split-screen view, the guests all remarked on how luxurious the accommodations were.
The decision to start the live stream early was a last-minute call by Liu Shenghai. He had instructed the cameramen to begin filming as soon as the guests woke up, believing it would better engage the viewers’ emotions while proving that the guests truly lived in the accommodations they had earned through their tasks.
Jiang Ke hadn't slept all afternoon; she had spent the time obsessively reviewing the live playback, reading the bullet comments, and analyzing viewer critiques. She was determined to identify exactly what the audience disliked about her so she could address it. Consequently, she was the first to know when the live stream went live.
She remained calm, however. She knew that directors of variety shows loved these kinds of antics—secretly filming guests without makeup was a major selling point. She carefully touched up her makeup, applied lipstick, and, once satisfied with her natural look, returned to bed to wait for the production crew.
Almost the moment Jiang Ke lay back down, the split-screen feed vanished, returning to a single frame. A girl in a white dress, holding a microphone and wearing a radiant smile, appeared on the screen.
"Hello, friends in the live stream! I’m Nuonuo. Our guests are still taking their afternoon naps, so I’m going to sneak you all in to see their living arrangements. Let's go!"
[Huh? I thought we were going to see the guests without makeup?]
[Without makeup? Please, how is that possible? Unless they wash their faces right in front of us, I don't believe it. This is definitely scripted.]
[Actually, I feel like this show doesn't have a script. The director mentioned it in an interview; these shows are hard to script, especially since the guests are all wealthy. The only 'scripted' parts might be the personas they choose to adopt.]
[I want to see Jiang Xian's castle. Let me see what that's like.]
"We have now arrived at the tent where the young master, Zheng, is staying. As you can see, he really did pitch his tent right below the hotel where President Sheng is staying."
Nuonuo approached the tent, the camera zoomed in, and she lowered her voice: "You can see the exterior is quite large and luxurious. Let's sneak in and take a look."
With that, Nuonuo turned her back to the camera, effortlessly unzipped the tent, and gestured for the cameraman to follow. The viewers were treated to a view of the interior. It was fully equipped with a bed, sofa, and table—a living room and bedroom all in one. Fearing she might wake Zheng Jin, Nuonuo didn't speak, relying on hand signals instead.
On the bed, Zheng Jin had changed into proper pajamas, but because he was a restless sleeper, his quilt was balled up under his feet, and his pant legs were hiked up to his knees, revealing his long, fair legs.
Zheng Jin, sound asleep, had no idea that two people had entered his tent, or that his sleeping form and long legs were being watched by hundreds of thousands of people.
[Long legs! Long legs! Can the cameraman get any closer? Let us feast our eyes! {Drooling emoji}]
Every comment that followed was filled with the same drooling emojis.
Nuonuo waved her hand and signaled the cameraman to follow her out. "My dears, this is the young master of the Zheng Group. Any closer and I’m afraid I’ll get sued! So, let’s head up to the hotel and see what President Sheng’s room looks like."
The viewers were disappointed but didn't dwell on it; they knew Nuonuo was right—getting sued wouldn't be worth it.
Guided by Nuonuo, the audience learned that Sheng Ya was staying in the hotel’s presidential suite. Since she was a woman, they didn't enter her bedroom, merely taking a quick look around the living room.
"Next, we’re heading to President Lai’s RV. Look, it’s over there." The camera followed her finger to a parked RV. Nuonuo made a shushing gesture to the lens and carefully opened the door.
Inside, the layout was similar to the tent—everything was provided, though the space was smaller. Lai Bingfu happened to be facing the door, and due to the tight quarters, his sleeping face was captured clearly by the camera.
[President Lai looks so cute while sleeping! What's the difference between him and a 'puppy-dog' type? Even if his name does sound like a nouveau riche uncle.]
[Screenshot! I'm making this my wallpaper.]
[But when I think about what he said to Jiang Xian today, I just can't bring myself to like him.]
[Same, sisters!]
Carefully exiting the RV and closing the door, Nuonuo said, "We've toured the three guests staying in this area. Now we’re off to see the other four. Out of the three we just saw, whose place did you like the most? 1 for Zheng Jin, 2 for Sheng Ya, and 3 for Lai Bingfu. Type the number in the chat!"
Afterward, Nuonuo boarded a shuttle bus to the next location. The chat was immediately flooded with numbers, all three candidates running neck-and-neck.
The shuttle stopped after two minutes in front of a high-rise building.
"Wow! It seems you all have your favorites. Once we finish seeing everyone's place, I think you'll have a hard time choosing—especially since we still have the big villas and the castle to go!"
"We’re now at the apartment where Li Jiale is staying on the 8th floor. Let's go!"
Inside, they took the elevator to the 8th floor, where each floor housed only one unit.
Opening the door, they were met with a fresh, green-themed decor that felt vibrant and full of life. The living room featured floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a view of the landscape from the 8th floor.
"Li Jiale is a female guest, so we won't be entering the bedroom, as usual. I actually really like the style of this apartment."
Many viewers agreed, praising the apartment's aesthetic.
Leaving Li Jiale’s apartment, they moved to the adjacent villa complex. "Young Master Rong Fan’s villa is right next door. Let’s go take a look."
The camera followed Nuonuo into the complex, where the villas were built in a traditional Chinese style. "This is the villa where Young Master Rong is staying."
As the door opened, a small garden came into view. Walking through the garden, they reached the entrance, noting how the garden encircled the entire house. Nuonuo turned the doorknob, only to find it locked. "Oh dear, Young Master Rong has locked the door. We can't get in."
[As expected of someone in the top three of the wealth rankings—very cautious. He actually locked the door.]
[So we can't see? No way! I wanted to see Rong Fan’s sleeping face! Thumbs down.]
[I don't really care to see it either. Forget it, I'm going to watch Jiang Xian's castle.]
[Right, let’s go see the castle.]
