Yu Wenqiang’s face was pale as he turned to Jiang Rui. “Master Jiang, this…”

Xu Chunlian was equally frantic. “Can my husband still be saved? He’s been like this for days. No matter how much he eats, he never feels full. Master, what should we do? I’m going out of my mind with worry.”

Jiang Rui waved a hand. “It’s fine. Take me to him. It shouldn’t be a serious problem.”

Hearing this, Xu Chunlian’s restless heart finally found some reassurance.

Yu Ping was bound to the bed with hemp rope, evidently the handiwork of his wife and son. When he saw someone enter, his blood-red eyes fixed intensely on the newcomer.

“Go get me something to eat, damn it! Are you trying to starve me to death?”

Jiang Rui looked at his stomach. It was as swollen as that of a woman eight or nine months pregnant.

She could not help frowning. A thick, murky aura clung to Yu Ping’s brow, so dense it seemed impossible to disperse.

He had been possessed by something unclean.

“Master Jiang, has that black rat been haunting my father?” Yu Wenqiang asked.

Jiang Rui nodded first, then shook her head.

Yu Wenqiang was speechless.

“Master, I beg you—please save my husband! He looks terrifying like this. We’ve been to the hospital and even consulted a spiritual master, but nothing worked.”

Xu Chunlian truly had no other options. They had placed all their hopes on Jiang Rui, praying that she could cure her husband’s bizarre illness.

“Your husband isn’t merely being harassed by that rat. He’s also possessed by the owner of the coffin. In other words, there are two souls inside him now. Including your husband’s own soul, that makes three.”

Yu Wenqiang and his mother both drew in sharp breaths at Jiang Rui’s words.

“Master, what should we do now? Can you do anything?” Yu Wenqiang had little confidence left.

He had never imagined that there could be two other souls inside his father’s body. Who would believe such a thing? This was terrifying beyond words.

“It’s all right. Things haven’t reached the worst possible outcome yet.”

At that moment, Yu Ping seemed to sense something frightening about the young woman before him. A beastlike roar suddenly erupted from his throat.

The sound frightened Yu Wenqiang and his mother badly.

“Where did this little girl come from, daring to boast so shamelessly here? Do you even know how to write the word ‘death’?”

Jiang Rui froze. She had not expected the thing inside Yu Ping to speak to her first.

She rolled her eyes at Yu Ping, looking as though she did not take him seriously at all.

“Come out willingly now, and I may let you off. But if you force me to act, believe me—you won’t be able to bear the consequences.”

“Hahahaha! How amusing. That’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard. If you have the nerve, come and try!”

Yu Ping’s voice was not only hoarse but also unusually deep, like that of a man in his seventies or eighties. There was even a desolate quality to it.

Another roar burst from his mouth. Astonishingly, his body began expanding once more.

Before long, he had grown more than two meters tall, and the hemp ropes around him began snapping one by one. The sight was utterly shocking.

Terrified, Xu Chunlian hid behind Jiang Rui. Yu Ping’s legs trembled violently, as though they were made of sieve reeds.

Good grief—was this something a human being could actually do?

“You two, get out first. Leave this to me,” Jiang Rui said.

“Master, but…” Xu Chunlian began in a trembling voice.

Before she could finish, Jiang Rui waved her off.

“You’re completely useless here, understand? Not only can you do nothing, you’ll become a burden. I’ll have to divide my attention to protect you.”

Xu Chunlian understood what she meant. Although Yu Wenqiang was worried about his father, he knew that staying would serve no purpose.

“Master, be careful. Mother and I will leave now.”

Jiang Rui waved at them, urging them to hurry.

Yu Wenqiang took his mother and left. They believed that Jiang Rui was nothing like the other spiritual masters they had consulted, and they firmly trusted that she could handle his father’s current condition.

Once they were gone, Jiang Rui pulled over a nearby chair and sat down, crossing one leg over the other.

After stretching lazily, she glanced at Yu Ping and said indifferently, “Enough. Stop showing off. If you want something, just say it. Why are you clinging to him?”

“Don’t tell me you have no grudge against him and simply possessed him because you disliked him. I wouldn’t believe that.”

Yu Ping—or rather, the two souls within him—stared blankly. They had not expected the young woman before them to disregard them so completely.

Why did they suddenly feel as though they had been looked down upon?

“Heh heh heh. Little girl, you seem very confident. I wonder whether your abilities are as impressive as your mouth.”

Jiang Rui curled her lips into a smile and tilted her head.

“What, shall we find out?”

“Hahahaha! Interesting, very interesting. Young and fearless, are you? You want to try? Fine. Let’s try.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, a dense layer of dark energy enveloped Yu Ping. The hemp ropes around his body suddenly snapped apart.

His two-meter-tall body moved as lightly as a swallow as he lunged at Jiang Rui.

“You little brat, become nourishment for my body! I hear that absorbing a Taoist practitioner’s blood can greatly increase my power.”

Jiang Rui remained seated as though nothing had happened, her legs still crossed.

“Oh, really? I think so too. Go on, then. I support your idea. You can do it. I’m sure you can.”

Seeing how calm the young woman was, Yu Ping suddenly felt an inexplicable trace of fear.

Could this girl be a hidden master from beyond the mortal world? Otherwise, how could she remain so composed? It made no sense.

A sudden panic stirred deep within him. Yu Ping shook his head, trying to cast aside all those chaotic, pointless thoughts. All he wanted now was to seize the girl before him.

He would crush her bones to dust, tear out her tendons and strip away her skin, and drain every last drop of blood from her body. Only then would he feel fulfilled.

In the blink of an eye, just as Yu Ping’s hands were about to touch Jiang Rui, she performed a sudden backward roll.

She sprang from the chair. Yu Ping missed completely, while Jiang Rui lightly tapped the floor with her toes and spun into a roundhouse kick.

Yu Ping was sent flying more than two meters.

With a thunderous crash, his body smashed a huge hole into the wall.

Before Yu Ping could crawl out, Jiang Rui appeared in front of him in an instant.

And then… there was no “then.”

Jiang Rui grabbed him by the collar and hauled him straight out through the hole in the wall. Left hook, right hook—Yu Ping was beaten senseless.

Stars swirled before his eyes. He tried to beg for mercy, but before he could utter a word, Jiang Rui’s delicate fists struck him again.

Four or five teeth flew out, falling alongside streams of blood.

Why had the scene suddenly become so gruesome?

The viewers in the livestream watched the bloody spectacle in stunned silence, each of them so shocked that they forgot how to breathe.
