Chapter Sixty-Six: It’s Not the Number of Fools That’s Dreadful, but When They All Gather Under One Roof
What truly stunned Zhang even more was still to come. The special effects were so perfunctory, simply typing words on the screen, but the attacks were just as slapdash!
“Amazing! Ahhhhhh…”
The villain twisted his body in a lackadaisical manner, then collapsed with an exaggerated scream.
Zhang: “…”
“No wonder you’re the successor of the Nine Suns Divine Fist. My life has been without regrets.” The villain, lying on the ground, uttered his final lines in a dying breath.
“I remember that day, running beneath the setting sun—that was my lost youth.”
“Ah~”
Listening to the villain’s soulful death rattle, Zhang nearly burst out laughing like a fool.
By this point, he realized the entire show was just this kind of absurd comedy.
He then turned on the bullet comments.
Normally, he didn’t watch with bullet comments because they ruined the film experience. But for a show this ridiculous, they were a must.
He wanted to see if those silly netizens were as shaken as he was.
But perhaps because the show had just launched or the slapdash cover had deterred viewers, there were very few bullet comments, most just generic “hahaha.”
The scene on screen shifted to another setting.
“Now that I’ve defeated the enemy, I should be able to rescue the princess, right?”
“Hey!” Another villain jumped out. “No, you have to defeat me first!”
Zhang couldn’t help but laugh again.
Seriously, it was one thing to have internal monologue lines connect, but wasn’t the villain just killed? How broke was this production?
“Didn’t I just defeat you?”
“You thought that was me?”
“It was obviously you, just with a change of clothes!”
“Hahahahahahahaha… That’s right!”
“He shamelessly admits it!” A bullet comment abruptly popped up.
Almost simultaneously, Wang Dachui said the same line.
Then another bullet comment appeared—a long ellipsis, clearly from the same user as before.
“Hahahaha…” Zhang wasn’t amused by the dialogue, but by the viewer’s antics.
Judging by the length of that ellipsis, the user must have suffered internal injuries from laughing too hard.
“This crew is so broke—would it kill them to hire another actor?” Wang Dachui seemed about to lose his mind.
Just then, a slow bullet comment drifted by:
“These two fools have said everything I wanted to say!”
Zhang laughed out loud once more.
He discovered that watching the show with bullet comments doubled the fun!
The battle was about to erupt again.
Just as Zhang braced for another round of lackluster effects, the screen changed abruptly—two impossibly simple stick figures appeared.
The post-production team thoughtfully labeled them to prevent any confusion.
Then came all sorts of flashy moves, with explosive sounds that almost seemed legitimate.
When subtitles like “I don’t know what move to use anymore” appeared on screen, Zhang’s jaw dropped.
This production… actually had some heart! The fight scenes weren’t monotonous—they even switched things up!
“Whoa!”
Perhaps the visuals were so moving, several bullet comments with viral potential suddenly popped up.
“These effects… I give full marks!”
“Wow, first time seeing such explosive effects!”
“The fight scene! Epic! At least legendary level!”
Zhang could hardly stop laughing.
“Ah~” With another soulful villain death, the bullet comments reached their first peak.
“This voice…”
“No, if you’re going to die, just die—why make it sound so… suggestive?”
“Why is my female coworker giving me a strange look?”
“Newbie question: What’s with all that talk about ice, fire, nine layers of heaven?”
“Friend, words can’t describe it. Best to experience it yourself.”
Maybe more people were watching, or maybe something else, but the bullet comments became livelier.
Zhang was laughing so hard he couldn’t stop. He realized it had been ages since he’d watched anything so joyful.
On screen, the story had moved to a third setting.
Sure enough, the villain was still the same villain.
“If the princess at the end is played by this fool, that would be epic!”
A bullet comment suddenly jumped out. Clearly, this viewer was speechless at the recurring villain.
“No wonder you’re the ultimate demon lord—even the special effects have become refined!”
Wang Dachui had barely finished speaking before a viewer retorted via bullet comment: “Do you have some misunderstanding about what ‘refined’ means?”
“Haha, compared to before, this actually counts as refined!”
“I’m not exaggerating, these wings are definitely the most expensive shot in the whole show!”
Zhang enjoyed the silly commentary as he watched the plot unfold.
“It finally feels like an epic showdown.”
“Ah——”
“Ah——”
Although he was prepared, when the fire and ice effects rose with Wang Dachui’s hands, Zhang couldn’t help but laugh again.
Enough already!
Really, enough!
He was certain the director and writer were just as silly as the show itself.
What was that saying? Don’t fear a lot of fools—just fear a whole nest of them!
“…That was my lost youth, ah~”
Zhang couldn’t shake the feeling that the villain’s dying gasp was getting more and more indecent.
“My name is Wang Dachui. Who would’ve thought, without intending to rescue the princess, I still saved her.”
As Wang Dachui recited this line, the camera panned to the background.
A princess with flowing hair and white robes looked the part.
But in the next second, the camera zoomed in for a close-up.
“Ugh…” Zhang instinctively leaned back, putting some distance between himself and his phone.
The image… was blinding!
“I surrender!!!”
A bullet comment popped up at the top of the screen.
Unable to look straight at his phone, Zhang burst out laughing.
That bullet comment was definitely from the same viewer as before.
“I never want to work with such a broke crew again!”
That was Wang Dachui’s final line.
Then the scene shifted, and as the closing credits rolled, the director included some behind-the-scenes footage.
“Hahahaha, I’m dying of laughter!”
“So after all that, the knife was for suicide?”
“Of course! The crew was broke—if they didn’t use expensive props, wouldn’t that be a waste?”
“How come there are no real staff in the bloopers? Is the crew really that broke?”
“Do you even need to ask? They put a guy in drag so blindingly, isn’t that hint enough?”
“Wearing women’s clothes doesn’t necessarily mean broke—maybe they just like it!”
“Hahahaha, you’re all too much!”
“See you in the next episode, fools!”
