Chapter Seventy-Four: We’re Placing This Ad!
As the clock approached eleven, a black sedan slowly made its way from the distance. Xu Buyan, who had been keeping a close eye on that direction, hurried over to greet it.
Soon, he returned with two young men.
“Is this your crew?” The young man in the suit leading the way stared in disbelief at the shooting site not far away, his face full of surprise.
Since he started his business, he had sponsored quite a few film crews. Without exaggeration, this was by far the least like a film crew he had ever seen.
“Yes,” Xu Buyan replied with a smile, showing no sign of embarrassment or discomfort.
The quality of a series isn’t determined by the size of the crew. What if the crew is a little simple? As long as we can produce a work that’s widely loved, isn’t that enough?
The suited young man watched for a while, unable to resist teasing, “If I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn’t have believed that ‘Never Expected’ was made in an environment like this.”
Xu Buyan simply smiled, gesturing for them to walk over.
“Alright, that’s a wrap!”
On set, Chen Qi had just finished shooting a scene and noticed the two young men.
“Take a break for now, we’ll continue in a bit,” he said to Bai Xiaoke and the others, then walked over to greet Xu Buyan.
He knew these must be the advertisers they had arranged to meet.
Sure enough.
“Let me introduce you—this is Chen Qi, and this is President Han from Half a Cup of Milk Tea,” Xu Buyan said politely, making the introductions.
Chen Qi shook hands with President Han and led him toward the filming site.
Xu Buyan didn’t follow, as he was still waiting for the next advertiser.
He leaned against a tree trunk, silently watching Chen Qi’s back, his eyes full of worry.
He thought the chances of Chen Qi closing the deal were slim to none.
He wouldn’t claim much, but when it came to negotiation, he was sure he was better than Chen Qi. If he couldn’t seal the deal himself, how could Chen Qi, who’d never dealt with this field, possibly succeed?
Clearly impossible.
Meanwhile, Chen Qi walked with the two young men toward the set, explaining something as he gestured with his hands.
Half a minute later, the two suddenly stopped, their eyes wide with shock as if they’d heard something incredible.
Seeing them stop, Chen Qi didn’t go any further, but continued to explain his ideas in plain, straightforward language.
A few minutes later, when Xu Buyan glanced their way again, he saw the two advertisers staring at Chen Qi with mouths agape, their eyes full of disbelief and amazement.
What on earth did I miss?
“We’re in! We’ll take the ad!”
Just as he was wavering in suspicion, he heard President Han exclaim excitedly.
Hearing this, Xu Buyan gasped, staring in disbelief.
If he hadn’t seen Chen Qi glance over and gesture for him to come, he’d have thought he’d misheard.
Closed the deal?
How could they have come to an agreement in the blink of an eye while I was distracted?
It’s only been a few minutes!
“President Xu?”
Chen Qi’s voice snapped him out of his daze.
“Did you bring the contract?” Chen Qi called out from afar.
“Yes!” Xu Buyan replied hastily. “It’s... in the car, I’ll go get it!”
He was so stunned he could barely speak.
“President Han, why don’t you go with President Xu and sign the contract? I’ll finish shooting the remaining scenes.”
“Alright, no problem!” President Han replied enthusiastically, walking straight over to Xu Buyan.
He still seemed elated, and who knew what Chen Qi had just told him.
Xu Buyan swallowed nervously, shooting Chen Qi an uncertain glance.
Chen Qi, understanding his concern, nodded reassuringly.
Was it really fifty thousand per episode?
Yes.
With Chen Qi’s confirmation, Xu Buyan forced a smile and quelled the storm in his heart, leading President Han to the car to fetch the contract.
He had prepared a standard contract template, needing only a few key details and signatures to complete.
When he saw President Han fill out the contract, his eyes twitched again.
Half a Cup of Milk Tea had bought two episodes of end credits advertising!
At that moment, Xu Buyan was burning with curiosity—what exactly had Chen Qi just said to President Han?!
He’d called Han several times, and Han had thought even one episode was too expensive. Yet after only a few minutes with Chen Qi, he’d decisively bought two episodes?
In the end, Xu Buyan suppressed his curiosity.
It wasn’t the right time!
The signing went smoothly, and as Xu Buyan was about to say something, another car approached from a distance—the next advertiser had arrived.
“Excuse me, please have a seat for a moment while I greet our next guest,” Xu Buyan said to President Han, hurrying off to meet the new arrival.
After a brief exchange, he led the newcomers over to Chen Qi.
This time, he was determined to stay close and finally hear what Chen Qi was saying to them!
Chen Qi, busy filming the last scenes, simply nodded as they arrived, signaling for them to wait a moment.
The advertiser wasn’t in a hurry, taking an interest in watching the shoot.
“All right, that’s a wrap!”
Ten minutes later, Chen Qi finished the last group of shots and strode over.
As before, Xu Buyan introduced the parties.
Chen Qi shook hands politely and got straight to the point.
“President Liu, I know you’re all busy, so I’ll skip the pleasantries. Here’s what I have in mind…”
After a moment, Xu Buyan, like the two advertisers, found his eyes widening in astonishment.
Contrary to his expectations, Chen Qi didn’t talk up the quality of the new season. Instead, he described the way the ads would be integrated!
No one expected that his approach to advertising would also break with tradition, its brilliance matching the show itself!
“…That’s how the whole ad is presented. Are you interested?” Chen Qi finished.
Xu Buyan was stunned.
The two advertisers were stunned as well.
Never in their wildest dreams had they thought advertising could be done like this!
Even just hearing Chen Qi describe it, the effect was electrifying.
“We’re in!”
“Director Chen, we’ll take the ad!”
After a few seconds of shock, the advertiser made a decision as quickly as President Han had.
The reason they wanted to advertise in “Never Expected” was because the show was fun. Now, Chen Qi’s ad placements were just as interesting as the series itself—what was there to hesitate about?
Forget fifty thousand, they’d pay an extra twenty thousand for this!
If only they’d known the ad would be presented like this, why would they have hesitated for so long?
At that moment, they even felt a little lucky.
Coming here—what a fortunate decision!
