He Ruined the World A narrow path winding through the fields 930 words 2026-02-09 11:50:54

Yes, I’ve received the editor’s notice that the book is about to go live.

It’s rather embarrassing.

To be honest, I never expected the results of this novel to be like this. They’re even worse than the first book of mine that went live.

I remember that when the previous book went on sale, it had nearly two thousand favorites. This one has only a little over fifteen hundred even now.

I once finished that last book in high spirits, saying that the next one surely wouldn’t flop, that it would definitely make its way through every stage of recommendation before going live in grand fashion...

What a slap in the face.

The less said, the more it hurts.

Since I started this book, it has only twice received a recommendation so insignificant it could scarcely be called more than a mosquito’s leg. The slot was called Hot Recommendation, the kind with a small line of text way down on the desktop version’s urban fiction page. Both times, that was all.

The favorites this recommendation brought me were barely any better than starting from scratch. In fact, they were even worse than when I was effectively writing with no exposure at all after the word count had grown.

I’m utterly discouraged.

Even if it were just a recommendation that included the app, I’d take that. Just one would do.

Sigh...

A long, weary sigh.

Because of the results, my state of mind has been a little unstable lately.

More than once I’ve wondered whether there’s still any need to keep writing it, whether anyone would even read something with these results, whether it means anything at all.

I even told myself that if this one is abandoned too, then I should sever all ties with this industry and never write novels again, and simply settle down as a reader.

But just like when I first wrote Little Star, I cannot accept it.

I think this book is better written than Little Star.

When I wrote Little Star, I had no experience, and all those flaws in the opening chapter eventually still carried me to more than five thousand average subscriptions. I believed this book’s results would only be better!

I spent a long time building myself up mentally.

I kept telling myself: keep writing. After all, you don’t rely on this to make a living. What does it matter if the results are poor? Work hard and make it succeed! Prove it to yourself!

If you truly stop writing now, it will become a regret you can never make up for.

Even if you really are going to leave this industry, you should not do so in such a miserable way.

So after careful thought, I decided to continue.

I will walk the road I once traveled all over again.

I will write this book’s results upward!

For no other reason than to prove it to myself.
