Chapter 106: Tang Yan Stunned
“Run along, then.”
“Understood.”
After leaving the room, the woman by the window remained seated, listening quietly to the music that came from the speakers.
At first there was only doubt on her face.
Then, little by little, that doubt gave way to surprise.
By the time the song ended, she was staring ahead in silence, unable to hide the shock that had settled over her features.
This was not the song she had imagined.
It was far better than she had expected.
She set down the teacup in her hand and looked toward the young man across from her with a completely new expression.
“You wrote this?” she asked.
He nodded modestly.
“For a moment just now, I really thought I had misjudged it.” Her voice held both astonishment and lingering disbelief. “If this is truly the caliber of the song, then the people who turned it down must have lost their minds.”
The young man only smiled.
Seeing that, the woman slowly exhaled and suddenly laughed, the tension in her face easing all at once.
“Then I’ll be direct,” she said. “I want this song. If you’re willing, I’d like to take it exclusively.”
Her tone was immediate and firm. The earlier restraint had vanished, replaced by professional urgency.
The young man glanced at the woman beside him, then at the one across the table, and said with calm politeness, “The decision is yours.”
That answer made the woman laugh again.
“All right. I’ll have my people draw up the terms right away.”
She rose, shook the young man’s hand, and then, before leaving, turned back with a look of frank gratitude.
“Thank you. I owe you one.”
The young man merely inclined his head.
After she was gone, the room fell quiet once more.
The woman seated there could not help but smile.
She had come expecting a disappointment. Instead, she had discovered a treasure.
