Happy Lantern Festival!
Happy Lantern Festival to all my readers!
Today's two chapters have been updated.
I'd like to take a moment to discuss a few things with you.
As this is my first attempt at writing a novel, and I've chosen the most challenging niche genre—military espionage—the initial contract review did not pass. Thus, I consulted deepseek, who advised me that an espionage story needs a sense of anticipation and sharp conflict. As a result, I have spent the past four days revising the manuscript from the beginning. The revised content has been uploaded starting from 4 p.m. on February 11th. Therefore, for readers who had already read past chapter eleven before February 11th, I recommend taking some time to start over from the first chapter.
Previously, there was too much narrative description, so I have made appropriate adjustments without significantly altering the plotline. Considering future possibilities for adaptation (humans are never satisfied—before signing the contract, I only wished for it, but once signed, I immediately dreamt of a screen adaptation; I too want to be a dream-chasing slacker), the system's presence in the protagonist's life has been reduced and, beginning from his return to the country, the system is entirely removed.
The overall revision is not yet fully complete, so there may be inconsistencies or logical gaps. If you notice any, please alert me—I appreciate your help in advance.
To facilitate adaptation and avoid certain sensitive topics, the subsequent plot will feature more detailed descriptions and the book's structure may adopt a more refined, episodic approach. This means the earlier chapters laid too broad a background and entangled relationships too deeply, which later might feel like firing a cannon at a mosquito. For example, if you have two cubic meters or even more of penicillin, why not give it to the organization? The truth is, it's simply impossible—such actions would severely violate historical reality!
And you may wonder, knowing about such a major event, why not try to prevent it? It's not that I don't want to, but that I can't! So I have slightly adjusted the protagonist's background: he's a medical master's graduate, whose school years were spent heavily on mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology, with little attention paid to history—he simply forgot!
This is the best I can do, so I hope you won't be too hung up on these issues!
Once again, thank you all for your support and encouragement!
