Chapter 063: Ramsay Understands Chinese Too
The military officer was uncertain about Chen Jiehua’s reaction and his own Chinese, so he glanced again, then looked over at Fujiwara Mio, and shouted in Japanese, “Ha! I get it now, you two are the troublemakers from the south! Abbeville has already sent a diplomatic note to the embassy, demanding we investigate who went to southern Leverkusen!”
Damn! That bastard Ishii Masami spoke so fast that by the time Chen Jiehua realized what was happening and dragged him into the alley with his hand over his mouth, the words were already out!
Chen Jiehua suddenly remembered—he was a university classmate! Ishii Masami! Too late!
What luck! Even shopping in distant Europe, he gets recognized by a classmate he’d barely met a few times!
Back in the future, when things were rough, not even classmates in China would help him!
Ishii Masami’s loud voice had already drawn the attention of patrolling guards in the distance. Seeing Chen Jiehua and Fujiwara Mio dragging the officer into the alley with his mouth covered, two guards immediately blew their whistles and rushed over!
Damn it, that bastard yelled so loudly—and worse, he knows their identities. He can’t be allowed to live!
Chen Jiehua, while dragging him, signaled Fujiwara Mio to quickly escape, urging her to run to the other side of the alley. He decisively drew a scalpel, swiftly pressed Ishii Masami’s neck against the wall, slicing through his blood vessels and windpipe. Blood sprayed across the wall, but not a single drop touched his own hands!
Chen Jiehua dropped the body, put the scalpel back into his spatial pocket, and followed Fujiwara Mio, sprinting deeper into the alley!
The guards’ whistling brought even more soldiers—this was the capital! Murder in broad daylight, how brazen could they be!
The two ran as they spoke—what now? The suitcase was still at the inn! This sudden turn of events left them completely unprepared!
“Bang!” A guard raised his rifle and fired, but it was too far to hit.
Still, the shot startled the two fleeing figures, and the sound pointed the way for other patrols, who were already flanking from the side. Damn it, must they be so clever!
They continued running in a roundabout way toward the inn, all the while avoiding the encircling patrols.
Suddenly, a hand reached out from the middle of a residential alley, grabbed Fujiwara Mio’s arm, and pulled her inside, while signaling to Chen Jiehua—here!
Chen Jiehua glanced over in a hurry, then dashed in without hesitation and closed the door!
As Fujiwara Mio was pulled inside, she quickly drew her scalpel and slashed!
Ramzi was nimble and dodged in time. Chen Jiehua, seeing this after closing the door, quickly stopped her, “Mio, stop! He’s one of us!”
Fujiwara Mio stared wide-eyed at the disguised Ramzi, then looked at Chen Jiehua, as if to ask, Are you sure he’s on our side?
“It’s Ramzi. That look in his eyes—I could recognize him no matter how he disguises himself! Put simply, I’d know him even if he turned to dust!”
Ramzi heard this and spread his hands in a helpless gesture.
He could understand Chinese, too!
Japanese, Chinese, German, English—what else do you speak? Maybe the question should be, is there any language you don’t know?
“Who are you really?” (Russian)
“I’m Ramzi, didn’t you recognize me?” (Russian)
Indeed, he spoke Russian as well!
“Let’s not discuss this now. Is there a back door to this house? Go quickly to the inn and get our suitcase—there’s something very important inside for you! Extremely important! If the military police search the inn, we’re finished!”
“All right, I’ll go!” Ramzi said, then rushed to the back door, opened it, checked that no one was outside, and dashed out!
“Mio, it seems I forgot to tell him where we’re staying,” Chen Jiehua said, closing the door and turning to Fujiwara Mio.
“It’s simple. He knows where we’re staying, and even our room number.”
Damn! Chen Jiehua truly couldn’t find words in any language to express his feelings at that moment.
While Ramzi was gone, Chen Jiehua took their third set of clothes from his spatial pocket, and swiftly changed and applied new disguises!
He turned himself into a typical Westerner. Fujiwara Mio’s features were harder to alter, so he changed her style as best he could. Then, checking the back door to make sure no one was watching, he led Mio out, circling the area.
The Berlin patrols were peculiar—if they couldn’t catch someone, they simply gave up? Didn’t even search? Could it really be over just like that?
Once he was sure it was safe, Chen Jiehua did not return to the house. Instead, he and Mio waited in the alley across from it, silently watching for Ramzi’s return.
If he brought pursuers with him, they’d be trapped inside like fish in a barrel. He had no desire to be that fish!
From there, the inn was actually not far away. Five minutes later, Ramzi returned, carrying the suitcase.
He didn’t rush in, but stood at the door, pausing for at least fifteen seconds, then suddenly turned to look at the dark alley across the street.
He really was a Level Four agent—so alert and sharp! Chen Jiehua and Mio emerged from the shadows and entered with him, closing the door.
“Mr. Aoki, I feel you have deceived me with your sincerity,” Ramzi said, setting the suitcase down gently.
Clearly, he wasn’t exactly honest, either—he’d found time to open the suitcase and search for something!
“Mr. Ramzi, don’t you think that, as an English gentleman, secretly rummaging through a beautiful lady’s underwear without her permission is terribly ungentlemanly?”
“Or perhaps, you’re not English at all? Who do you really serve?” Chen Jiehua countered.
“Does it matter? This time, I saved you. We’re even, aren’t we?”
“Heh, do you really think that without you and this house, my companion and I couldn’t have escaped?”
“At the very least, it would have been much more troublesome, wouldn’t it?”
“Can you two not start bickering the moment you meet? Mr. Ramzi, is it truly safe here? What’s the situation outside? Could you please tell us?” Fujiwara Mio couldn’t stand it anymore and interrupted in Chinese, breaking up their sparring.
“The lady is more reasonable. Beautiful Eastern lady, Ramzi is happy to answer your questions! This is Ramzi’s home, and he assures you it is perfectly safe.”
“As for your other question: in the Weimar Republic, the killing of a Japanese aide would not draw any attention. Tomorrow, as long as you don’t wear the same clothes and run into those two patrolmen again, no one will care who you are or where you’re from.”
“What a remarkable country.”
“In times of economic depression, everyone cares only about how to earn money for bread. No one has the time or energy to bother about a dead Japanese in the embassy.”
