Volume 1, Chapter 33: Either a Spy or an Undercover Agent?
When Laifu returned, he was carrying a bowl of medicine.
“Your Highness, Miss Lin’s medicine is ready.”
“Enter.”
The eunuch Laifu came in with a beaming smile. Seeing His Highness use a spoon to feed food into Lin Qingwan’s mouth, he set the bowl of medicine beside the table.
“Your Highness, Imperial Physician Yun was suddenly summoned away. Consort Hui is said to have developed an acute illness, and the other physicians are uncertain how to treat it.”
“Hmm.”
“Which fool has a death wish and come here to challenge us?”
A deep, resonant voice suddenly rang out. Xie Yu abruptly raised his head, only to see a man walking toward him. Even the burly, portly man’s face held a trace of astonishment.
“Of course it’s useful. This system is bound to you, after all. Once the system is upgraded, the benefits you receive will be enormous,” the system explained.
After their falling-out at the church, he had not said another word to Leng Sicheng. In any case, they had already fallen out, so there was no need to continue pretending to be close and putting on a false show of cordiality as he had before.
“Listen to me, Sang Yue. Go outside. Your father has something to say to His Highness.”
Tu Laya gently pushed Sang Yue away, a mild smile curling at the corners of her lips.
“Don’t move. Come outside with us.”
A ferocious-looking man pressed a weapon against his head and forced Zhuo Fan out of the cabin.
The moment they arrived at the City Lord’s residence, they encountered Fang Yuege, who had been waiting at the entrance. When Fang Yuege saw Lou Jin, her eyes flickered slightly before settling on his swollen belly.
Could this really be Yajun’s child?
She simply had not expected Mu Qingqing to ask to see him today. But after thinking it over, she smiled in resignation. Mu Qingqing had probably placed herself under some unknown threat because of him.
What a cautious girl.
Jing Hua was speechless. She was the injured one, wasn’t she? Not only had no one been attending to her, she now had to serve the lion himself.
As Shayu fell into an unconscious haze, all he could vaguely make out was a bizarre outfit—half black and half white, with a sharply defined boundary between the two. Even the wearer’s face was hidden beneath a bamboo hat, making it impossible to see clearly.
The bone-age examination was complete. The deceased was approximately thirty-two years old, male, and over one hundred seventy-five centimeters tall. Analysis of the bones suggested that he had lived a comfortable life, with no signs of poor health. The forensic examiner found a fragment of bone which, upon examination, showed degeneration in one rib caused by years of smoking.
When he reached the entrance of the Moon-Watching Tower, he saw that business was thriving inside and that the restaurant was filled with diners. On a sudden impulse, he went in, took a private table, ordered several dishes and some wine, and prepared to have a meal.
Many soldiers of Yongqiu threw down their helmets and armor and turned to flee. Lei Tingjin and his two brothers led the army in a furious charge, pursuing and slaughtering them. Kong Sheng brandished his crescent halberd, and the Yongqiu troops, chased across the mountains and plains, collapsed into complete disarray. Wails of grief echoed everywhere.
Xiao Yi smiled faintly and spoke with calm composure, holding forth eloquently. Everyone looked at him with strange expressions. They had never realized that the young master of the Xiao family possessed such remarkable conversational skill.
Downstairs, when Liao Qingshu heard from the receptionist that Ye Yunzhao had told her to go upstairs by herself, she felt especially miserable.
Facing the palm force descending like a mountain, Yun Chen remained composed, without the slightest trace of panic. Then the sword formula in his left hand shifted, while the iron sword in his right hand thrust straight forward.
It was an utterly simple thrust, yet it embodied the ultimate sublimation of the Great Dao. Carrying supreme holy power, the iron sword pierced toward the Grand Elder.
Xiao Chengtian cupped his hands toward Nie Tianyun, though his expression had grown somewhat grave. He had never expected the Blood-Robed Protector to be so powerful. Xiao Chengtian himself was a master of the Martial Ancestor level. Although Nie Tianyun had not revealed his strength, Xiao Chengtian estimated that his cultivation was certainly no lower than the Martial Ancestor realm.
She had already inquired about it from Qi Jingyao. The original new-energy vehicle project was expected to require roughly five million to get started, but Ye Yuyan apparently could not produce five million at all. Now that the quoted price for this plot of land was precisely five million, Ye Yuyan was naturally overwhelmed by the problem.
Xiao Chengtian regarded Zhao Feng with an ambiguously amused smile and spoke in a teasing tone. After all these years, his old habits were impossible to change; even at a time like this, he could not resist needling Zhao Feng.
