Volume 1, Chapter 7: I Apply Medicine for Her
Page 1/3
Yun Feiheng’s mouth twitched—couldn’t even wait seven days?
“If both external application and internal administration are used simultaneously, the patient’s body can recover within three days.”
“However, the external application requires inserting medicine into the affected area and changing it every four hours. If the patient does not cooperate, the effect might be poor and could even harm the body.”
Ordinarily, women would choose internal medicine. Though slower, it was more acceptable to them.
“Tell me what to do. I will change the medicine for her every four hours.”
Beside him, the female physician Yun Yuying blinked and looked at Imperial Physician Yun. She couldn’t help but daydream—His Highness the Crown Prince actually stooped to personally apply medicine for a woman?
Seeing the Crown Prince’s persistence, Yun Feiheng could only nod. “Please, Your Highness, have your attendants withdraw.”
Chu Linyuan raised his hand, and all those present, both openly and covertly, withdrew.
Yun Feiheng took the medical supplies from the medicine box and carefully explained how to clean, apply, dress, and change the medicine.
“I will remember. If she does not improve after three days, I will take your life.”
Yun Yuying rolled her eyes silently at Chu Linyuan’s back, cursing inwardly. If it weren’t for this man’s reckless actions, how would the woman have suffered so terribly? And now she threatened her own brother? Shameless!
Noticing the physician’s small gesture, Yun Feiheng frowned and subtly shook his head.
The female physician puckered her lips and sighed silently, then returned to her cautious demeanor.
She took out paper and pen, began writing the prescription on the table in the courtyard, and handed it to the physician. “Go prepare the medicine.”
After the female physician left, Chu Linyuan spoke slowly, “Aside from the injury there, how is her overall health?”
Yun Feiheng bowed slightly, uncertain why the Crown Prince asked, then answered honestly based on the woman’s pulse.
“The patient in the mansion has no other illnesses besides injuries to her private parts. Her body is healthy and fertile. If Your Highness does not wish for her to bear children, I can add an auxiliary medicine.”
Fertile? That was good news—suitable for continuing his lineage.
Chu Linyuan thought of the woman on the bed. She should not be pregnant now; he was perhaps overly indulgent with her body.
If she became pregnant, he would have to endure not touching her for three months.
“Add it. Prepare a mild, non-harmful contraceptive decoction for her in the future.”
Hearing the Crown Prince’s unwillingness for the patient to conceive, Yun Feiheng carefully inquired.
“I have another prescription that would cause a woman to lose fertility. If Your Highness—”
Chu Linyuan grabbed Yun Feiheng’s collar and glared fiercely. “When did I say I want her to lose fertility?”
He only didn’t want her pregnant for now. If in the future her heart belonged not to Mo Lingxuan, he would allow her to bear heirs.
“Please forgive me, Your Highness.”
Yun Feiheng knelt, lowering his head, sweating profusely under the Crown Prince’s fierce rebuke.
Chu Linyuan kicked the kneeling Yun Feiheng and returned to the room, standing guard by the bedside.
He reached out to touch the white cloth on the woman’s forehead; what was once cool was now burning hot.
He removed the cloth, rinsed it gently in ice water, wrung it out, and placed it back on her forehead.
Watching the Crown Prince care for the patient with smooth, practiced motions, Yun Feiheng admired the woman lying on the bed from the bottom of his heart.
This woman truly held a different place in His Highness’s heart. When the noble ladies of the mansion fell ill before, the Crown Prince never personally tended to them like this.
“Imperial Physician Yun, the medicine is ready.”
Yun Yuying brought the prepared medicine to Yun Feiheng.
Yun Feiheng took the bowl, pondering how to administer the medicine, when the Crown Prince took it with one hand, blew on the spoon, and gently touched the medicine to his lips.

After ensuring it was not too hot, he brought it to the woman’s mouth.
Lin Qingwan was burning with fever, her consciousness foggy, unaware of her whereabouts.
“It’s so bitter.”
Feeling as if poisoned, the liquid bitter and astringent, she instinctively spat it out.
Seeing her reject the medicine, Chu Linyuan was not angry.
He took a clean white cloth and wiped the medicine that had leaked from her mouth.
Then he drank a mouthful from the bowl, grasped the woman’s neck with one hand, lifted her jaw with the other, and fed it to her himself.
Bound tightly, Lin Qingwan could not resist and was forced to swallow the bitter, astringent medicine, tears streaming from the corners of her eyes.
Seeing the Crown Prince administer medicine with his own lips, Yun Feiheng hurriedly knelt.
“Medicine has its toxicity, Your Highness, your precious body—”
“Leave—”
Chu Linyuan roared like a disturbed lion, glaring fiercely at the kneeling Yun Feiheng.
“I take my leave.”
Yun Feiheng hastily retreated from the room, fearing another kick if he lingered.
Yun Yuying followed.
After leaving the Eastern Palace, Yun Yuying couldn’t help but speak.
“Big Brother, why did you have to admonish him? I saw the Crown Prince feeding her quite happily.”
She looked at her brother, feeling he was meddling unnecessarily. If he hadn’t said that, she could have watched a little longer.
“Protocol. You don’t understand.”
Yun Feiheng was too lazy to explain.
“I understand. It’s just that the Crown Prince can feed her, but as a minister, you must warn him? If you didn’t warn, it would be disloyal, careless of His Highness’s health.”
Hypocrisy! Yun Yuying muttered inwardly.
As they left the Crown Prince’s residence, Yun Feiheng’s heart finally settled.
Today, he truly couldn’t discern the Crown Prince’s thoughts and almost misspoke. Fortunately, His Highness did not blame him.
On the way back to the Imperial Medical Court, their carriage was suddenly blocked by a man in black brocade.
Lifting the curtain, Yun Feiheng’s eyes brightened, a smile tugging at his lips as he teased.
“General Mo, what’s the meaning of this?”
Looking at the man’s lower body, he couldn’t help but admire Mo Lingxuan’s tenacity.
He had only been beaten twenty strokes this morning and was now lively and alert. Truly the successor appointed by Old General Mo.
Mo Lingxuan climbed into the carriage and looked at Yun Feiheng.
“You just came from the Crown Prince’s residence? Who did you examine? Qingwan? How is she?”
Yun Feiheng had never seen this side of Mo Lingxuan—he actually stopped a carriage in public to inquire about a woman.
“General Mo, whom are you asking about? If it’s Imperial Physician Yun, I have no comment.”
“If it’s Yun Feiheng, I can only say I visited a woman. I don’t know if she is the Qingwan you mentioned. Why are you concerned about the Crown Prince’s affairs?”
Mo Lingxuan clenched his brow, gripping Yun Feiheng despite his discomfort.

“Tell me how she is?”
Seeing the worry and restraint in Mo Lingxuan’s eyes, Yun Feiheng’s heart tightened. Was this man serious?
“She’s not? What do you mean? That is the Crown Prince’s woman. Mo Lingxuan, are you mad?”
She is not!
She was supposed to be his wife!
Thinking of all that had happened because he had kept the Crown Prince in his room, he felt deep regret.
“Tell me, how is she? Does the Crown Prince treat her well?”
Yun Yuying couldn’t help but sneer.
“Don’t talk about ‘well.’ She now lives in the Crown Prince’s chambers with no name or status. Do you think that’s good?”
Looking at his sister, who only added fuel to the fire, Yun Feiheng signaled her to be quiet with his eyes.
He crossed his arms and leaned against the carriage wall, sighing slowly.
“She was already unconscious when we arrived.”
“There are injuries on her face, but good ointments have been applied. Excessive indulgence damaged her private parts and caused a high fever. Normal relations wouldn’t cause this; it was likely forced.”
“But the Crown Prince doesn’t seem cruel to her. He feeds her and applies medicine personally. You’d better stop thinking about her. That girl is beyond your reach.”
If it were anyone else asking, he wouldn’t reveal a word, but Mo Lingxuan was different.
Previously, when he was ambushed and captured during a military medical mission, if not for Mo Lingxuan’s lone rescue, he might have died in enemy hands.
With that debt, as long as Mo Lingxuan wasn’t trying to overthrow the dynasty, he would do his best to help.
Clenching the dagger hidden in his sleeve, stabbing it into the chair, he wondered why he had allowed her to suffer so terribly.
“General Mo, I think Big Brother is right. You should give her up.”
Thinking of the Crown Prince feeding her personally and their constant proximity, Yun Yuying believed Mo Lingxuan’s chances were slim.
Not to mention one was sovereign, the other subject. If the sovereign wished the subject dead, the subject had no choice, let alone the sovereign only desired a woman.
Mo Lingxuan looked up at Yun Feiheng and laughed coldly, eyes full of pain.
“If he cared for her, why would he let her follow him without name or status? Why would he force her?”
Seeing Mo Lingxuan scrutinize her brother so fiercely, Yun Yuying couldn’t help but mock.
“General, why not earn battle merits and ask to marry? That woman has no status now; living in the Crown Prince’s residence without status means she’s half a slave.”
“Wait until you have glorious battle achievements and petition the Emperor to marry her. When the Emperor’s decree comes, won’t she be yours?”
“Of course, if she can hold out until you finish the war. If she ends up with the royal jade butterfly before then, it won’t be your dream to cherish.”
Hearing Yun Yuying’s sarcasm, Mo Lingxuan seemed to glimpse a ray of hope.
If he earned glorious military merits like his father, could he petition the Emperor to marry Qingwan?
“I understand. Thank you for your advice, Miss Yun.”
Yun Feiheng wished he could seal his sister’s mouth—she always caused trouble at critical moments.
Seeing Mo Lingxuan nod with meaning and prepare to dismount, Yun Feiheng hurriedly grabbed him.
“Yuying didn’t mean that. Mo Lingxuan, you should give up on that girl.”
