“Young lady, did you get separated from your family? I’ll take you to find them,” said the man at the head, his large belly protruding. Despite his lavish clothes, the foul stench of alcohol and meat clung to him unmistakably.
Yun Xi’s heart skipped a beat when she saw the servants surrounding him. Fear flickered across her face, and she instinctively took a step back.
Having rarely ventured outside and spending most of her time in the inner courtyard, she had never encountered such ruffians before, nor realized her appearance was so striking.
Suppressing her discomfort, Yun Xi straightened her face and replied coldly, “No need.”
“Hey—young lady, don’t refuse the wine only to drink the penalty wine. Do you know who our young master is?” A skinny servant, as thin as a stalk of hemp, jumped out from behind the man and pointed at Yun Xi’s nose, shouting.
“Get lost! Who told you to be so rude to a beauty!” Another servant’s words were cut short as the man kicked him hard, his eyes fixated lustfully on Yun Xi’s face.
He then opened a folding fan, fanning himself with a pretentious elegance and stepped forward with a nauseating smile. “Beauty, come with me, and I guarantee endless wealth and glory.”
Their commotion drew the attention of passersby.
“What are you staring at? How dare you interfere with our young master’s business!”
“If you meddle, we’ll gouge out your eyes!”
...
The two servants behind the man shoved and pushed the onlookers while jeering.
Hearing this, the man puffed out his belly with pride, a smug grin etched on his face.
Yun Xi clenched her fists, feeling a cold sweat. She wondered if the Yun family’s reputation could protect her.
“I am the Third Miss of the Yun family. Dare you lay a hand on me?”
“The Yun family? Third Miss?”
With a sharp snap, the man closed his fan and appraised her from head to toe before sneering contemptuously, “I’m not afraid of any Mud or Yun family. Never heard of any Third Miss either. Even if there is one, I’m not scared.”
Seeing his fearless demeanor, Yun Xi suspected he must be some royal kin.
This scoundrel!
What to do? In a flash, an idea took shape in her mind.
She glanced behind the man and shouted, “Brother, you’re back!”
The man turned, squinting his small green eyes.
There was no one there.
Puzzled, he looked around, but the petite young lady was gone.
Realizing he had been tricked, the man flew into a rage and kicked the two servants beside him.

“What are you standing there for? Hurry and chase after her!”
“Stop!”
Yun Xi ran toward the crowd, hoping to shake them off, but they pursued relentlessly.
“Stop! Don’t run!”
The townsfolk, seeing the pursuers behind her, instinctively stepped aside. There was no way to hide.
She darted through the crowd and, just as she was about to be caught, noticed a carriage bearing the emblem of the Hou family. A spark of hope lit her mind, and she slipped inside.
Once inside, panting, she covered the mouth of the person about to speak and whispered, “ShI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
