Chapter Seventy-Four: The Four Notorious Tribes
“Is there ever a time when Senior Brother Wei fails to deliver?”
“Exactly! That Luo Tian from the Divine Sun Sect is truly unlucky. He managed to make it here alone, only to end up contributing his secret realm’s power to us!”
“I wonder how the other teams are faring.”
Suddenly, a layer of white light surged over Wei Zhongyuan’s body!
The Ninth Revolution of the Qi Condensation Realm!
At the same moment, several disciples from the Great Yuan Sect behind Wei Zhongyuan, guided by his hand gestures, scattered and began to encircle Luo Tian, intending to cut off his retreat.
These disciples had absolute confidence in Wei Zhongyuan; they believed this attack would be swift and certain.
Was this man a mad dog, attacking whoever he saw?
Though Luo Tian was prepared for the possibility of a sudden assault, he hadn’t expected Wei Zhongyuan to strike without a word, not even bothering with the usual villainous banter or mocking remarks.
Given that, there was no need to waste any more time.
Clad in a shroud of dark light, Luo Tian advanced instead of retreating, entirely unconcerned with the disciples approaching from the sides and behind. He harbored no thought of escape. If Wei Zhongyuan wanted to take him down, then let their skills speak in the heat of combat!
After all, this was not an opponent so formidable that Luo Tian felt compelled to flee; on the contrary, only such adversaries could serve as his whetstone.
The disciples of the Great Yuan Sect were, on average, stronger than those of the Divine Sun Sect—making them the perfect choice for battle.
Seeing Luo Tian barreling towards him, Wei Zhongyuan’s lips curled into a savage grin. This Luo Tian truly was an imbecile: not a member of the Liu, Shen, Tang, or Chen families—the four infamous clans of the Divine Sun Sect—but an even more worthless outsider. Did such trash really dare face him head-on?
Wei Zhongyuan tightened his grip, adding more force to his attack.
Noticing the mocking expression on his opponent’s face, Luo Tian’s heart remained calm as still water; only through battle would the strong and weak be revealed.
Fist against fist!
Luo Tian expressed his resolve in the most direct way, refusing to yield!
A dull, resounding thud echoed as their fists collided, and both felt a powerful force surge through their bodies.
Luo Tian possessed the strength of the Eighth Revolution of the Qi Condensation Realm, while Wei Zhongyuan was at the Ninth. At the ultimate threshold of Qi Condensation, both could easily unleash a force of over ten thousand pounds with proper preparation. Though the attack was sudden, they each struck with at least several thousand pounds of force.
Such a clash of power could not be underestimated; the recoil was formidable.
A fierce force surged through his fist, making the muscles in Luo Tian’s arm tremble. The vibration rippled rapidly and minutely, passing from his arm to his chest, abdomen, waist, and hips, then down to his legs and finally into the ground.
Even so, Luo Tian’s body wavered, almost losing his balance, but fortunately, he dug his feet into the earth, as if rooted in place, quickly regaining his stance.
Serpent form to dissipate force, ox form to stabilize!
For this contest of strength, there was no need for the turtle form—Luo Tian saw no reason to use it needlessly.
Wei Zhongyuan staggered backward three steps before he steadied himself. His eyes flashed with intense shock as he stared at Luo Tian, unwilling to accept what he’d seen. “How did you cultivate your body-refinement secret art to this level? You’re not one of the four trash clans of the Divine Sun Sect, yet your mastery is deeper and more refined than theirs!”
A Ninth Revolution cultivator losing ground against an Eighth Revolution cultivator—what other explanation could there be?
Truth be told, Wei Zhongyuan had studied body-refinement secret arts, but only to the extent of accommodating elemental energy within his body. He hadn’t pursued deeper mastery, so he immediately guessed the reason upon contact.
Four trash clans?
Luo Tian couldn’t help but smirk; the term was amusing, but given the sect’s attitude toward outsiders, he felt no urge to defend it.
“I’m not a member of the Liu, Shen, Tang, or Chen families, but the sect doesn’t forbid me from cultivating body-refinement secret arts.”
“Nonsense! You must have joined one of their clans—how else could you have the resources to reach this level? Isn’t changing your surname all it takes? Why not admit it?”
Wei Zhongyuan sneered, “Frankly, your four trash clans are truly short-sighted, only caring about immediate gains and never striving to strengthen the sect as a whole.”
Luo Tian’s heart stirred. “What do you mean by that?”
It seemed he was on the verge of uncovering a secret; just a few more steps, and he’d glimpse the truth behind the fog.
“Playing dumb, are you? Stop pretending!”
Wei Zhongyuan snorted coldly. “The Cloudpeak Empire competition selects the most outstanding young disciples from all the sects for rewards. Whether they serve the empire, travel for training, or return to their original sects, it’s a transformative opportunity!”
Luo Tian’s brow lifted, as if grasping something elusive.
“Forget the whole Cloudpeak Empire—just within Skywind County, under Wan Feng City, there are plenty of sects. Yet none monopolize the advancement channels for ordinary folk through four clans the way yours does!”
Wei Zhongyuan made no effort to hide his contempt. “And the Library Pavilion—that’s where Wan Feng City’s officials supervise sect affairs. I wonder which supervisor is in charge, to be so thick with the four trash clans. Aren’t they afraid of death?”
So that’s how it was?
Luo Tian felt his fists clench so tightly his fingers dug into his flesh. Though he had no particular feelings for this new world, he never imagined the Divine Sun Sect would harbor such corruption.
And that so-called Library Pavilion overseer, Han Li—no wonder he’d said those odd things; this was the true reason!
What was this, then?
Luo Tian found himself distracted and lost in thought.
“Courting death!”
Wei Zhongyuan saw his opponent dazed and immediately flew into a rage. This brat was infuriating.
This was not merely arrogance—it was utter disregard!
Within the Great Yuan Sect’s team, Wei Zhongyuan was only considered barely qualified, having refined water elemental energy but not yet comprehended its true meaning. Yet after entering the secret realm, he’d broken through from the Eighth to the Ninth Revolution, and the advance had filled him with boundless confidence.
Except for the few disciples who had grasped true meaning, who else could stand against him among the thirty?
Wei Zhongyuan’s team had discovered a modest secret within the realm, so when he saw Luo Tian, he was ready to kill without mercy. Yet, personally, he longed to savor the thrill of overwhelming his opponent.
This Luo Tian was different from the Divine Sun Sect disciples who had died before—not only did he not fear being surrounded, he acted like a curious child, which undoubtedly wounded Wei Zhongyuan’s pride.
He was determined to give Luo Tian a lesson he would never forget—one that would haunt him to the grave!
