Chapter Six: Step Four Complete
Heath looked speechlessly at Zorua. If Zorua had transformed into a stunning beauty with fair skin, a perfect figure, and curves in all the right places, Heath might have expressed some admiration. But watching a Machoke-bodied creature with a demonic physique batting its eyelashes at him seductively, Heath considered it an extraordinary feat that he managed to keep from vomiting.
"Huh? A Machoke face?" Seeing Zorua's dazed expression, Heath helplessly shook his head. This little one probably had no idea how appalling its appearance had just been.
It could even be described as terrifying.
And when Zorua realized that pestering wouldn't work, his eyes darted around as he came up with other ideas.
"Trainer, trainer! Can I work to earn money and buy it?" Zorua looked at Heath expectantly. Heath was taken aback—he really hadn't expected Zorua to say something like that.
"It's not impossible... but there's nothing you can do right now." Heath looked at Zorua and stroked his chin.
Zorua's abilities were actually pretty useful, but they didn't have much application in the restaurant. For cutting vegetables, cooking, and helping out in the kitchen, Farfetch'd could handle it. For lighting the fire, Charmander was in charge. About the only thing Zorua could do right now was act cute.
Once the restaurant grew bigger in the future, Heath figured he could have Zorua work part-time as a server.
"Please settle the translation fee!" Zorua transformed again into a little loli with beast ears, happily extending her fair, delicate hand and smiling at Heath.
The corner of Heath's mouth twitched, but on reflection, Zorua's translation ability really had been a great help to him, so with a pained expression, Heath pulled a hundred League Coins from his wallet and handed them to Zorua.
"Settled once a week, got it? But during this time, you'd better translate for me properly." Heath glanced at Zorua, who nodded happily.
Heath was a bit curious about what reward he'd get once Farfetch'd learned how to make San Bu Nian. He felt a little anticipation—if it gave him a potion that could turn him into a psychic, then Heath would be very pleased indeed.
"Of course! I want to go to the bookstore!" Zorua said happily. Heath glanced at his phone—the timing was about right.
He drove Zorua to buy some books, and then Heath headed to the department store next to the bookstore. He planned to buy a gift for Sister Feng there. As for what kind of gift, Heath had already decided.
"Hiss... this phone is really expensive..." Heath clutched his wallet in pain. He had decided to buy Officer Feng a new phone, since her phone really hadn't been changed in a long time. When everyone else could use video calls, Officer Feng's phone could still only make calls and send texts.
"Trainer, are you reluctant to part with it?" Zorua lay in the food truck's rest area, curiously watching Heath.
"Not at all. Once I make a decision, I never regret it. But that doesn't mean I can't still feel the sting." Heath shook his head. For a gift for Sister Feng, even if he had to spend every last bit of his savings, he wouldn't care.
Fortunately, Heath had fleeced quite a bit of wool from Lady Lori's Gengar and Miss Sabrina, or else just buying this phone alone would probably have drained all the money he'd saved up recently.
"Speaking of which, I might as well start preparing some pickled vegetables in advance." Heath set the food truck to autopilot and headed toward the driving school.
Heath planned to participate directly in the afternoon's driving test at the driving school. Apparently, if you did well, there would be some special reward. But Heath had no idea what this special reward was. It couldn't possibly be teaching him tricks like how to drift, right? That'd be too ridiculous.
"Farfetch'd, how's your San Bu Nian coming along?" Heath rubbed his hands together. Today's humid weather was a bit cold and clammy, and Heath absolutely hated this kind of weather.
Fortunately, the food truck had heating, or else Heath didn't know if he'd be too frozen to even lift a spatula.
"Fetched!" Farfetch'd proudly patted its chest.
"Farfetch'd says it can give it a try." Zorua translated for Heath, while flipping through a book titled *The Unspoken Story Between a Beautiful Boy Trainer and a Mightyena*.
"Then let's try it." Heath nodded. If Farfetch'd could learn it, it would save Heath a ton of effort. He might even feel genuinely happy about it, especially since Farfetch'd had been stuck on that task for days.
Farfetch'd stepped forward confidently, and Charmander curiously put down the dumbbell it had been holding to stand beside Heath and watch.
Heath glanced at Charmander. Maybe it was because Pokémon in this world developed differently than normal, but after just a few days of training, Charmander's muscles had already grown to a certain scale, leaving Heath stunned.
Heath had a feeling that at this rate, he might one day have a muscle-bound bro standing beside him—a powerful, heavily muscled bro.
But as Farfetch'd began making San Bu Nian, Heath watched it seriously, observing its tossing of the wok. Heath nodded in satisfaction. At this pace, it shouldn't be difficult for Farfetch'd to succeed.
Finally, when the food truck stopped, Farfetch'd had finished making the San Bu Nian. Though its wings were trembling with exhaustion, at least by Heath's standards, it had reached the level where it could be served to customers.
"Not bad, not bad. You've really improved. But you should know that a chef's stamina is also very important. Otherwise, you won't be able to handle all the dishes and customers. You don't want the guests to go hungry, do you?" Heath looked at Farfetch'd with satisfaction and encouraged it with a smile. Farfetch'd happily nodded.
Heath pulled a bottle of transparent liquid from his pocket with a strange expression on his face.
"Hm... Erguotou?" Heath stared blankly at the label on the bottle. Wasn't this just Erguotou? So the "Life Reset Drink" was actually just Erguotou?
After reading the brief notes, the corner of Heath's mouth twitched. He had originally thought it was a liquor you drink to restart your life, but it turned out to be for reviewing your past life experiences after drinking it. Still, the ability to pause and fast-forward was pretty unique.
"Can't think of any use for it right now. I'll just set it aside." Heath shook his head and placed the bottle of Life Reset Drink in the cabinet.
