After hearing this, Song Xixi couldn’t help but let out a snort of laughter. She truly found Qin’s mother unreasonable. She hadn’t even confronted Qin Ze about the troubles he had caused her, yet here she was, first humiliated by his mother in such a manner. She didn’t bother to say anything more and simply replied coldly, “Madam Qin, perhaps you should manage your own son first. Goodbye!” With that, she hung up the phone without hesitation, tossing it onto the bed. Yet, the anger inside her simply wouldn’t subside.

At that moment, Ye Chunxi was also awakened by the noise. Rubbing her eyes groggily, she muttered, “Xixi, who is it? Calling so early, it’s so annoying.” She yawned as she spoke.

Song Xixi took a deep breath, trying to make her tone sound lighter. “Chun Chun, there’s a Cantonese breakfast shop in this small town. Their rice rolls are truly extraordinary. Get up quickly, I’ll take you there to try them.”

At the mention of delicious food, Ye Chunxi’s eyes instantly lit up, and the drowsiness faded away. “Really? Then we must go! It’s been so long since I’ve had good rice rolls. You should’ve taken me there ages ago.”

Song Xixi smiled teasingly, “Well, I’m taking you now. Hurry up and freshen up, we’re heading out.”

She got out of bed and tidied herself up simply. Although the headache from her hangover hadn’t completely faded, she didn’t care at the moment—she just wanted to get some fresh air with Ye Chunxi.

After washing up, the two of them linked arms and stepped outside. The early morning in the small town carried a unique tranquility and freshness.

Ye Chunxi took a deep breath and said, “Xixi, this town’s environment is really nice. Living here must be so relaxing, not like the noisy and chaotic city.”

Song Xixi nodded with a smile. “Yes, I chose this place because of its quietness. That’s why I bought this little courtyard.”

The two chatted as they walked, soon arriving at the Cantonese breakfast shop. Even before stepping inside, the aroma of food wafted out, inviting and warm.

The shop was already quite full, mostly locals from the town, eating breakfast and chatting leisurely.

Song Xixi found an empty seat for them and greeted the owner familiarly: “Boss, two orders of pork and egg rice rolls, plus one order of stir-fried rice rolls with XO sauce, please.”

The owner smiled and responded, “Alright, just a moment. I’ll make them right away.”

Ye Chunxi looked around curiously, murmuring, “Xixi, this place really feels authentic, full of everyday life. This kind of small shop has the true flavor.”

They happily ate their rice rolls. Suddenly, Ye Chunxi tugged her hand and whispered, “Wow, Xixi, look! There’s an incredibly handsome guy over there.”

Song Xixi raised an eyebrow and glanced in the direction Ye Chunxi pointed. Her gaze landed on a figure, and she nearly choked on the bite of food still in her mouth. She quickly covered her mouth and coughed softly.

Good heavens, that silhouette looked so familiar. Looking more carefully—

Oh my! It was the same man who had previously, for some inexplicable reason, warned her to be cautious about taking birth control pills.

He wore a crisp white shirt, the hem casually tucked into light blue jeans, paired with delicate gold-rimmed glasses. Standing there, he exuded a refined air mixed with a hint of rebellious charm—truly the kind of sophisticated rogue who was effortlessly handsome.

Song Xixi discreetly averted her eyes, pretending to focus on her food as she silently prayed he wouldn’t notice them.

Ye Chunxi, oblivious to her friend’s unease, continued whispering in admiration: “Xixi, look at his figure and style—his aura is amazing. I wonder which wealthy family he belongs to.”

Song Xixi only gave a noncommittal reply, hoping Ye Chunxi wouldn’t pry further. She didn’t want to reveal this embarrassing incident.

But sometimes, what one fears most is exactly what happens.

The man seemed to sense something and turned to look in their direction.

Song Xixi’s heart tightened; her hands froze mid-motion. She feigned distraction, focusing intently on her food.

A faint, ambiguous smile curved the man’s lips.

Seeing his friendly expression, Ye Chunxi suddenly stood up and walked toward him.

Song Xixi wanted to stop her but was too late; she could only watch helplessly as Ye Chunxi approached the man.

Clearing her throat, Ye Chunxi smiled sweetly and initiated conversation, “Hi, handsome, I noticed you just now. I’m Ye Chunxi. Nice to meet you. Are you here for breakfast too?”

The man looked slightly surprised, not expecting such directness from the girl. Soon, however, he nodded politely, “Yes, I am. This place tastes pretty good; I come here often.”

Hearing this, Ye Chunxi’s eyes sparkled even more. She hurriedly added, “Then you must be quite the foodie.”

She gestured toward their table.

The man glanced in that direction, his gaze briefly resting on Song Xixi.

No one knew what they talked about. Soon, Ye Chunxi returned to the table with the man and warmly invited him to sit.

She then eagerly introduced him: “This is my best friend, Song Xixi. She’s quite an impressive person.”

Song Xixi forced a smile and nodded at the man in greeting.

What was going on? This was a total social nightmare. Help!

The man smiled at Song Xixi and said, “I’m Chang Zai Sheng. Nice to meet you both.”

He then looked at Song Xixi again.

That look carried an invisible pressure, making Song Xixi shift her gaze uncomfortably.

Ye Chunxi didn’t notice the subtle tension and continued, “Chang Zai Sheng, that’s such a nice name. Let’s add each other on WeChat. If we find good food or fun things, we can share.”

She took out her phone, looking at him expectantly.

Chang Zai Sheng didn’t refuse and readily pulled out his phone, exchanging WeChat contacts with Ye Chunxi.

This made Ye Chunxi incredibly happy; her smile grew even brighter.

After adding contacts, Chang Zai Sheng seemed to remember something.

“Miss Song, let’s add each other on WeChat as well. There might be times we need to get in touch.”

Song Xixi paused, unwilling a million times over. But Ye Chunxi kept signaling at her.

After hesitating, she reluctantly took out her phone and added him.

Chang Zai Sheng’s smile deepened after she added him.

Once home, Song Xixi received a message from him: [Miss Song, nice to meet you.]

She pursed her lips and replied with: [ヽ(´ー`)┌]
