Chapter 4: He Was Actually Dumped!
After speaking, she glared fiercely and forcefully pushed Qin Ze away.
She spun around and slammed the door shut with a bang, barring him from entering.
Leaning against the door, tears suddenly streamed down her face.
She crouched down, hugging her knees, trembling uncontrollably, biting her lip as she sobbed silently.
If only she had never loved, it wouldn’t hurt this much.
The more she thought about it, the heavier her heart grew, and the tears would not stop.
Everything began that day—
“Bang!” She stumbled into a solid, unyielding embrace.
Song Xixi looked up in panic.
The man before her was handsome and stern, but his unruly gaze and the slight upward curl of his lips gave off a roguish charm.
His sword-like eyebrows slanted toward his temples, deep and expressive eyes, a high nose bridge, and thin lips parted slightly: “Pretty girl, are you throwing yourself into my arms?”
Song Xixi, both anxious and fearful, bit her teeth and whispered a plea, “Can you help me?”
Qin Ze’s smile deepened at the corner of his mouth, but he asked leisurely, “What’s the payment?”
“Anything!” she replied.
He raised an eyebrow, then casually glanced around before pulling her behind him.
From his pocket, he took out a cigarette, lit it, inhaled deeply, and exhaled a smoke ring.
“I’m taking care of this girl today. If any of you dare to make a move, don’t blame me for being rude.”
He waved the still-burning cigarette between his fingers.
The two security guards froze momentarily, but upon recognizing Qin Ze, they greeted him respectfully, “President Qin!”
Qin Ze lifted his eyes slightly. “What, still thinking about making a move in front of me?”
Though his tone was teasing, it carried an intimidating pressure that chilled them.
The guards exchanged uneasy glances, and one stammered, “President Qin, we’re just following orders.”
Qin Ze flicked the ash off his cigarette and sneered coldly, “Orders? Whose orders? You dare not listen to me?”
The guards were left speechless, and after weighing their options, they reluctantly nodded.
—
Qin Ze staggered back several steps after she pushed him hard, his face full of shock and anger.
Staring fixedly at the closed door, his chest heaved violently.
“Song Xixi, don’t go too far!”
He hadn’t expected the once obedient and gentle Song Xixi to become like this.
Pacing back and forth at the door, his heart felt heavy and suffocated.
After a while, Qin Ze calmed down somewhat.
He pulled out his phone and called his assistant.
“Check who Song Xixi has been in contact with recently. I want every detail—nothing left out.”
After saying this, he glanced at the door, gritted his teeth, and turned to leave briskly.
The next day, Song Xixi got up and had a breakfast of instant noodles.
Then, she took out her phone.
Checking her bank balance: one, two, three... nine digits!
She had been too careless before!
—
She rummaged through her wardrobe, pulling out a whole pile of clothes.
She stuffed them into a large storage bag she had bought online a few days ago.
Various high heels went into boxes.
Qin Ze had even given her three Hermès bags.
She stuffed them all into the storage bag without hesitation.
She intended to liquidate everything!
She didn’t want to keep a single thing he had given her.
After going around Wanchang once, her balance increased by another 620,000.
Without stopping, she went to the agency and sold the apartment Qin Ze had gifted her.
The next day, after completing the paperwork, she received 4.8 million yuan.
After all this, she went to a remote suburb of Haicheng and bought a modest two-story house for only two million.
Song Xixi spent a week tidying up the house.
She paced around the small twenty-square-meter courtyard in front, then decided to visit the flower and bird market.
Upon entering, she was instantly surrounded by a sea of blossoms.
Flowers of all colors bloomed in competition, their rich fragrance filling the air, yet she walked straight ahead with an indifferent expression.
Along the way, the shop owners called out enthusiastically, recommending their flowers’ virtues.
“Miss, roses are so radiant; they symbolize love and look wonderful at home!”
Song Xixi ignored them, her steps unchanging.
Another owner recommended a clivia: “This clivia has the demeanor of a gentleman, elevates the house’s style, and is easy to care for.”
Still unmoved, her eyes searched the market until she suddenly asked, “Do you have bamboo peach plants?”
The owner was momentarily stunned, looking at her with surprise.
Then he said, “Miss, we do have bamboo peach, but it’s poisonous, so no one usually plants it at home.”
Song Xixi’s lips twitched slightly, her eyes narrowing as she murmured, “Poisonous? Perfect.”
The owner wanted to caution her further.
She had already turned and was picking out bamboo peach seedlings by herself.
After choosing and paying, she carried the seedlings away resolutely.
Back home, she carefully planted the bamboo peach into the dug soil.
When done, she stood up and clapped her hands.
Looking at the few bamboo peach plants, her gaze grew ever more determined.
...
Near midnight.
Qin Ze stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, smoke curling from the glowing tip between his fingers, swirling around him.
He tilted his head slightly, his Adam’s apple moving as he exhaled a smoke ring.
After an unknown length of time, seemingly tired, he stubbed out the cigarette.
Rubbing his temples, a few strands of hair fell lazily over his forehead.
Then, he slowly walked toward the sofa.
He took out his phone and stared at it repeatedly.
That woman hadn’t contacted him for over seven days.
Qin Ze furrowed his brow, a surge of uncontrollable irritation and unease rising within him.
His fingers swiped rapidly over the screen, finding Song Xixi’s WeChat and instinctively sending a question mark.
But immediately, a cold system prompt appeared: [The other party is no longer your friend.]
Qin Ze checked again and again, but the glaring message remained.
“Damn it!” he cursed under his breath.
He gritted his teeth and promptly dialed her number.
“The number you are calling is powered off. Please try again later.”
He had been blocked!
His face darkened dramatically, pale and flushed in turns.
“Song Xixi, how dare you!”
Furious beyond control, Qin Ze arrived at the apartment.
As usual, he tried to enter the password, but the door wouldn’t open.
His face instantly turned terrifyingly grim.
Without hesitation, he pressed the doorbell.
The door slowly opened, and Qin Ze was about to lash out, but suddenly he saw a stranger man standing there.
His first thought was that Song Xixi had brought a man home.
Leaning forward, he prepared to attack.
“Honey, who’s this? So late!” came a strange female voice from inside.
Soon after, a woman in pajamas appeared.
Qin Ze froze completely.
“Who are you? This is my home. Did you get the wrong place?”
The strange woman stepped forward, linking arms with the man. “Honey, don’t mind him. Maybe he’s crazy.”
“Bang.”
Qin Ze forced a crooked smile and left with dark eyes.
Song Xixi, don’t let me catch you again!
This time, the truth hit him—
He had truly been dumped!
The next morning, in the office, files on the desk rustled as Qin Ze flipped through them.
Just then, his assistant Qian Duo hurried in, holding a document carefully.
“President Qin, I have compiled all the information you asked about Song Xixi.”
Hearing this, Qin Ze snapped his head up, snatched the papers, and skimmed through them, his expression growing darker with every word.
“Waiting for your report, I’m afraid my stocks will crash to the limit down! How can such a small matter be handled so slowly!”
Qian Duo was so frightened he dared not breathe, lowering his head and stammering, “President Qin, Miss Song has been keeping a low profile these days. We worked hard to gather all this…”
“Don’t make excuses!” Qin Ze snapped.
Qian Duo could only nod meekly.
He had never seen President Qin care so much about Miss Song before.
What’s going on?
—
“Tap tap tap…” Song Xixi’s fingers flew over the keyboard.
