Chapter 29: Big Brother, I’ve Got Your Back! Kneel Down and Admit Your Mistake!
"Why does this voice sound so familiar?"
He couldn't shake the feeling that he had heard it somewhere before. Murong Du scanned his surroundings and shouted, "Who is hiding there, playing tricks? If you have the guts, come out and face me!"
"What kind of barking are you doing?"
The voice rang out from behind Ye Changsheng. He turned his head quickly to see Wan Jianyi stumbling out, muttering to himself.
"Brother! What are you doing coming out? Go back inside quickly..."
Ye Changsheng looked at Wan Jianyi with concern. Although they had been drunk the previous night, they had sworn an oath of brotherhood before Lord Guan, and the bond remained.
Wan Jianyi waved his hand with a grin. "Little brother! These guys are bullying you, and I won't stand for it."
"What kind of storms haven't I weathered in my time? These stray cats and mangy dogs? I can handle them easily!"
Seeing Wan Jianyi’s state, Murong Du burst into laughter. "I thought it was some master, but it’s just an old drunkard!"
Murong Du glared at Wan Jianyi viciously and barked, "Old man, I don't have time to play with you. Go find somewhere cool to crawl into and stay there!"
"You're at my doorstep, yet you dare to tell me to leave?"
Murong Du crossed his arms, responding defiantly, "So what? Do you have a problem with that?"
"A problem? I certainly do!"
Wan Jianyi’s figure flickered like a ghost, appearing directly in front of Murong Du.
"So fast!"
Before Murong Du could react, Wan Jianyi’s hand had already clamped onto his shoulder.
"Who exactly are you?"
"Kneel!"
As those words were uttered, Murong Du felt as if he were being crushed by ten thousand mountains. No matter how hard he struggled, it was futile!
"Thump!"
His legs gave way, and he collapsed onto the ground.
Ye Changsheng was stunned. "Just who is this brother of mine?"
Ye Changsheng knew Wan Jianyi wasn't a simple character, but he hadn't expected him to be this formidable—suppressing a profound spirit realm expert with such effortless ease!
"You..."
Yun Che was terrified, his voice trembling as he stuttered.
"The same goes for you lot. Get on your knees and talk to me!"
As the words fell, the members of the Azure Cloud Sect hesitated not for a moment, dropping to their knees in unison.
Of course, they weren't doing it voluntarily; they were being forcibly suppressed by Wan Jianyi. They only had two choices before them: kneel, or... die!
Su Qinqin looked at Ye Changsheng, bewildered, and asked curiously, "Brother Changsheng, is this old gentleman really that powerful? Who on earth is he?"
Ye Changsheng shrugged with a wry smile. "If you ask me, who should I ask?"
Wan Jianyi slowly lowered his head to look at Murong Du, smiling. "Weren't you very arrogant just a moment ago? Why are you shivering now?"
True to his words, the arrogance Murong Du had displayed was completely gone. His body was trembling violently, like a sapling swaying in a storm. By now, sweat had soaked through his robes; he had never felt such terror in his life.
"Senior, I had eyes but failed to see. Please, with your magnanimity, spare my life!"
The moment Murong Du spoke, he was begging for mercy.
"So you know how to beg for mercy now? Where was that knowledge when you were bullying my brother earlier?"
"Slap!"
Wan Jianyi struck Murong Du across the face, sending him flying through the air to land heavily on the ground.
Despite being struck, Murong Du dared not show a hint of anger. He could only clutch his swollen face and endure it in silence.
Watching Murong Du’s face swell into a pig’s head, Ye Changsheng couldn't help but chuckle. "That slap looked painful!"
Murong Du pointed at Ye Changsheng and asked, "Senior, is he your brother?"
"What? Do you have an opinion on that?"
"No, no!" Murong Du shook his head vigorously.
"You old rascal, of all people to bully, you chose to bully my brother. Do you really think I don't have a temper?"
"I wouldn't dare, Junior!"
"It’s just that this young friend stole our sect's ancestor’s remains, I was forced into this!" Murong Du explained.
To Wan Jianyi, an explanation was nothing more than an excuse.
"What do you mean 'stole'? My brother simply thought your ancestor was bored after death and took him out for a bit of sightseeing."
Upon hearing this, Ye Changsheng almost lost his composure.
"Brother Changsheng, this old gentleman really knows how to talk!" Su Qinqin giggled.
"Let's just keep watching. At least the ones suffering are these clowns from the Azure Cloud Sect." Ye Changsheng sat to the side, quietly eating melon and watching the show.
"Yes..." Although Wan Jianyi’s words were absurd, Murong Du had no choice but to agree.
"Never mind stealing your ancestor's remains—even if my brother wiped out your entire Azure Cloud Sect, it would be fine!"
Murong Du dared not say another word, only nodding in submission.
Yun Che, always pampered and spoiled, couldn't endure such treatment. He couldn't hold back anymore and shouted at Wan Jianyi, "Senior, I am the Young Sect Master of the Azure Cloud Sect. Please, show some respect."
Wan Jianyi rolled his eyes at Yun Che and retorted, "If it weren't for some ties I have with one of your ancestors, I would have slapped you to death already. Show you respect? I think you're looking to die."
Hearing this, Yun Che’s heart trembled violently, his face turning ashen.
Wan Jianyi turned toward Ye Changsheng with a grin. "Little brother, I’ve scolded them enough. I’ll leave the rest to you."
"You got it, brother!"
Wan Jianyi looked back at the Azure Cloud Sect members and said coldly, "My brother is going to give a lecture, so you’d better listen carefully. If anyone has any complaints, let me know, and I’ll send them down to have a date with the King of Hell!"
"Gulp!"
The members of the Azure Cloud Sect gulped, too terrified to even breathe, let alone speak.
Ye Changsheng pointed at Su Qinqin and sneered, "You kidnapped my sister earlier; you need to give me an explanation for that."
"You were the leader, you go first." Ye Changsheng looked at Yun Che, smiling deviously.
What did it matter if Yun Che was unwilling? With Wan Jianyi presiding, he had no choice but to comply.
"I'm sorry..."
He lowered his head, his heart filled with resentment.
"Your voice is too small. You’re a grown man—didn't you eat today?"
Yun Che clenched his fists and shouted, "I'm sorry! I was wrong."
Ye Changsheng pointed at himself and said with a smile, "Now, it's time to apologize to me."
"You stole our ancestor's remains and learned our sect's secret techniques, yet you want me to apologize to you? Isn't that going a bit too far?"
"Too far? I don't think so! Or would you like me to have my brother talk to you instead?"
Hearing this, Wan Jianyi turned his head slightly and waved at Yun Che.
Seeing this, Yun Che’s scalp went numb. He hurriedly lowered his head and said with extreme reluctance, "I'm sorry, I was wrong!"
Ye Changsheng stepped forward and patted Yun Che on the shoulder, smiling faintly.
"Young man, you’ve lived in an ivory tower your whole life and have never been beaten down by society."
In his previous life, Ye Changsheng had only lived for twenty-some years before dying; he didn't have much life experience to speak of, so he could only resort to social clichés to bluff his way through.
"Remember this: the dazzling world blinds the eyes; if you lack the strength, don't try to show off!"
"If your blade isn't sharp and your horse is too thin, what do you have to fight me with..."
