Northern Domain, Lijiang Sword Gate.
The Lijiang Sword Gate was situated in an exceptionally beautiful place, surrounded by mountains and steeped in dense spiritual energy, like the hidden abode of an immortal.
Every disciple within the sect was a sword cultivator. In the Northern Domain, it was considered one of the foremost first-rate powers.
Before the mountain gate, two disciples—one fat and one thin—stood watch.
“Fatty, why are you lying down again? We’re here to stand guard, not fool around.”
“What’s there to worry about? The senior brother patrolling the mountain today is my cousin. It’ll be fine.” The fat disciple waved his hand and chuckled.
“But what if someone attacks? Then we’ll be guilty of dereliction of duty. Even ten heads wouldn’t be enough to pay for it!”
The fat disciple burst out laughing. “Have you been kicked in the head by a donkey? Our Lijiang Sword Gate has developed at such an astonishing pace that, among the first-rate sects, we’re practically second to none.”
“True. At this rate, perhaps one day we’ll replace the Myriad Sword Sect and become one of the Five Great Sects…”
“Who would be bold enough to come here and cause trouble?”
The instant he finished speaking, a streak of light shot across the sky and descended directly before the mountain gate.
“Boom!”
In the next moment, the mountain gate exploded. The plaque bearing the four characters “Lijiang Sword Gate” was blasted apart, sending splinters flying everywhere and plunging the scene into chaos.
“Ptooey! Ptooey!”
The two disciples scrambled out amid the commotion.
“There’s an enemy—”
Su Qinqin slowly emerged from the smoke and dust. Looking at the two men, she asked, “What were you saying, big brothers?”
The fat man and the thin man exchanged a glance, instantly understanding one another.
“A little sister fell from the sky…”
They looked at Su Qinqin and gave her a lecherous grin.
Su Qinqin put on an innocent expression and asked, “Good big brothers, how do I get to the Lijiang Sword Gate?”
The thin man rubbed his hands together and chuckled. “Why, just walk straight into my heart!”
“Come here, little sister. Your big brother will definitely treat you well—the kind that comes from the heart, you know!”
Suddenly, a hand appeared on the man’s shoulder. He stood frozen in place, unable to move.
“Fatty, take your hand away!”
“Who touched you?”
Sensing that something was wrong, the thin disciple hurriedly turned around.

If he had not looked, he would never have known. But once he did, he nearly jumped out of his skin.
Standing behind him was a grown man. And who else could it be but Ye Changsheng?
Ye Changsheng waved at him with a smile. “Hello there!”
“Who are you?” The man’s face filled with terror.
Ye Changsheng did not answer. Instead, he said to himself, “You just said the road lies in your heart. Let me have a look.”
Before the man could respond, Ye Changsheng brought one hand down, tearing a bloody hole straight through his body.
“Didn’t you say you liked giving your heart and soul? Now that it’s really happened, you don’t seem very happy.”
Thud!
The man did not even have time to cry out before collapsing lifelessly to the ground.
Seeing this, the fat man, who had been about to step forward, froze where he stood.
“Skinny Monkey…”
Ye Changsheng turned his gaze toward the fat man, a trace of killing intent in his eyes.
The man lay sprawled on the ground as a foul stench spread through the air. He possessed little ability and merely enjoyed running his mouth. Now he was so terrified that he had lost control of his bowels and bladder.
“Big brother, please don’t kill me!”
Ye Changsheng smiled. “Relax. I won’t kill you. Go deliver a message to the important figures in your sect. Tell them I’ll be waiting here.”
“Yes! I’ll go right away!”
“Get lost!”
As soon as the words left Ye Changsheng’s mouth, the fat man took off running. Despite weighing more than two hundred pounds, he now moved with astonishing speed.
For the moment, only Ye Changsheng and Su Qinqin remained before the mountain gate. As for where Wan Jianyi had gone, no one knew.
“Brother Changsheng, are we really not going to get beaten up for this?”
“What’s there to fear? We don’t yet know who will be beating whom.”
After a while, a group of people flew over on swords and landed before the mountain gate.
The moment they touched down, a crowd of disciples rushed forward and surrounded the two of them.
They drew their sharp swords, ready to strike at any moment.
“What are all of you doing? Why crowd so close? Here to watch the excitement? All of you, get lost!”
With that, Ye Changsheng raised one foot and stamped hard against the ground.
The instant his foot landed, the earth trembled violently. A terrifying force swept out, smashing into the disciples gathered around them. One after another, they were sent flying like cannonballs, crashing to the ground in a heap.
Amid the crowd, an elderly man with graying temples slowly stepped forward. He was a core elder of the Lijiang Sword Gate.

“This boy is so young, yet he has already reached the ninth level of the Spirit Core Realm. Could he be a prodigy nurtured by some supreme power?”
Ye Changsheng snorted coldly. “What? Is this how the Lijiang Sword Gate treats its guests? You draw your weapons without even exchanging a word?”
The elder gave a cold laugh. “A guest? You destroyed our mountain gate and killed one of our gatekeeping disciples the moment you arrived. Does that look like proper guest etiquette to you?”
“What? Don’t you know that everyone who comes is a guest? What does that have to do with me killing someone and destroying your mountain gate?”
“Very well.” The elder nodded, then continued, “Even if Your Excellency is a guest, perhaps you could tell us which power you represent by coming here today.”
In truth, the old man merely wanted to probe Ye Changsheng’s background. If the force backing him was powerful enough, then the Lijiang Sword Gate could only swallow its grievance in silence.
But if it was not, they would trample him thoroughly.
“I represent no power, nor do I have any backing. I came today representing only myself.”
The moment he said this, the elder’s aura became considerably more imposing. He placed one hand behind his back and sneered.
“Representing only yourself? Then, Your Excellency, what brings you here?”
“We came here today mainly to accomplish three things…”
The elder’s expression darkened. “Is that so? Why don’t you tell me what these three things are?”
“Block the gate, block the gate, and damn it, block the gate!”
In the Northern Domain, the meaning of blocking a gate was simple.
Those who came to block a gate were challenging the entire sect. As long as they refused to leave, no one could enter the mountain gate, and no one could leave the sect.
For a sect, having its gate blocked meant that its strength and foundations were being utterly disregarded. It was nothing short of a colossal humiliation.
The instant those words were spoken, the expression on the elder’s face froze. He said quietly, “You would do well to think this through. Your talent and cultivation may be considered passable among your peers, but…”
He stopped there, refusing to continue. He merely looked at Ye Changsheng with a cold smile.
But Ye Changsheng had no intention of indulging someone who spoke only half his thoughts.
“If you have something to say, say it. If you need to pass gas, then pass it. Don’t keep holding it in—you’re making everyone uncomfortable.”
“Then I’ll be direct. You alone, attempting to block the mountain gate of my sect, are nothing more than an egg striking a rock.”
“You’re not qualified!”
Ye Changsheng remained perfectly calm and smiled.
“If I’m not qualified, what if I brought someone else?”
