Chapter 153: Extortion

The two hints had yielded no results. Li Danqing dared not continue with his subtle suggestions. "Princess Xian, I see that you are a sensible person. I apologize to you in person for the mistakes Xiaowei has made. I hope you might consider letting him off the hook."

An old fox. He had finally shown his true colors. This was exactly what she had been waiting for. "Is that so? It is not impossible to let him go. However, there are two conditions you must agree to. Otherwise, they will simply have to wait until my anger subsides before I release them."

Although he knew this matter would not end easily, now that Liu Ling'er had set conditions, there was a glimmer of hope. As long as he could save his own people, everything was up for negotiation.

Li Danqing spoke urgently, "I wonder what those two conditions are, Your Highness. As long as they are not unreasonable, I will certainly be able to fulfill them."

Liu Ling'er let out a chuckle. "Heh. You had better not be so quick to agree, Prime Minister. It would be quite embarrassing if you were to go back on your word later. Besides, my conditions are not exactly simple."

Li Danqing hesitated for a moment. Heaven knew that the smile Liu Ling'er had just shown was incredibly cunning. He could have guessed with his eyes closed that the two conditions she was about to propose would be anything but simple.

However, he had already stated that he would agree as long as the terms were not unreasonable. If what Liu Ling'er asked for was truly absurd, he could refuse her immediately. With that thought in mind, Li Danqing calmly replied, "Please state your conditions, Princess Xian. As I said before, as long as they are not unreasonable, I shall agree to them."
