Chapter 19: The God of Wealth Arrives in the Entertainment Industry (19)
“What do you mean by that night? Jiang Youyou, I remember telling you that Fang Jinnian isn’t right for you.” The words were laced with jealousy. Jiang Youyou settled back onto the sofa, gazing at Jiang Nianian, whose voice had dropped to a low, tense pitch, and laughed. “So what?”
“What happened between you two?” Jiang Nianian demanded, furious.
“My dear sister, why don’t you take a guess?” Jiang Youyou replied with a smile, her eyes tilted upward, her face flushed with a fox-like allure.
“You—!” Confronted with Jiang Youyou’s evasive, unyielding answers, Jiang Nianian’s mind was a mess, buzzing with confusion as she recalled their earlier conversation.
Jiang Youyou watched as Jiang Nianian’s face turned pale, then leaned back further into the sofa, her smile lingering in silence, simply observing. She rather wished she could peer into her sister’s mind; surely the world inside was a spectacle worth seeing.
Meanwhile, in another room, Song Xian’s anxious voice broke the silence, tinged with exhaustion. “President Fang, it really can’t be delayed any longer. The shareholders insist on waiting for you to return—the meeting absolutely cannot be canceled.”
He had pleaded until his throat was dry, but the old board members refused to leave. Forget canceling the meeting—he, just an assistant, had no authority at all. None of them would be satisfied until they saw Fang Jinnian in person, and the president simply refused to answer his calls.
Finally, after praying to every deity he could think of, the call was picked up.
“Are you brainless? If you can’t handle such a simple matter, what use are you to me?” Fang Jinnian’s voice was cold and sharp, his brow furrowed.
Song Xian was genuinely offended. But it wasn’t the first time he’d heard such words. He quickly composed himself and replied with caution, “I am indeed incompetent, but there’s truly no way to stall any longer. What do you suggest?”
“If you can’t resolve it, you can get lost too.” Fang Jinnian heard voices from the other room, spat out the words, and hung up.
Song Xian was left speechless. So what now? Did his life as a wage slave mean nothing?
Exhausted, he turned and walked to the meeting room door. The moment his hand touched the handle, the dead look on his face transformed into a sunny smile. He pushed the door open and strode in, ready to face the gauntlet of arguments with the shareholders.
The motto: If it doesn’t kill you, work until it does.
Back on set, Fang Jinnian and Jiang Nianian were putting on a public display of affection for all to see. He even had the driver fetch afternoon tea in Jiang Nianian’s name, giving her plenty of face.
Meanwhile, Jiang Youyou sat alone in a corner, looking pitiful and isolated. She was uncharacteristically quiet during this time, saying nothing, only occasionally letting a trace of sorrow flicker across her face as she watched the two flaunt their intimacy.
Fang Jinnian noticed, thoughtful. Under normal circumstances, this woman would have stormed over, fuming and making a scene with Nianian. But now she simply sat quietly to the side, subdued and well-behaved.
It seemed there was some truth to the rumors of trouble in the Jiang family.
Jiang Youyou glanced at the unfamiliar number on her phone, immediately searched it on WeChat, and sent a friend request without hesitation.
Two hours later, her screen flashed—a new contact had accepted.
That night, Jiang Youyou once again found herself trending online.

A Never-Gain-Weight Physique: Lately, Jiang Youyou always ends up trending, and it’s always for something negative. Clearly, her character must be questionable.
Singing Nervously to Sadako: In my twenty years of following gossip, I can guarantee the behind-the-scenes drama here is even juicier!
Broad Bean Not Potato: Buying roles with money, forcing herself in with poor acting skills—this show is doomed.
NianianIsTheBest: My Nianian may be new to the industry, but it doesn’t mean she has no backing! Jiang Youyou has gone too far, bullying my Nianian again and again. Do they really think our Nianian is a pushover?
