Chapter 14: If I Pay Attention to Her Again, I'm a Fool!
Zhang Yangfan suddenly appeared beside her, staring at her with a face full of resentment.
“Go to sleep, don’t think about him anymore!”
Duoduo’s eyes flicked toward him, and she obediently nodded.
Zhang Yangfan let go of her hand and squeezed into the lower bunk to sleep alongside her.
Duoduo shifted inward a bit.
Zhang Yangfan was touched: “You don’t have to move, sis. I don’t feel cramped at all.”
“It’s not cramped,” Duoduo shook her head. “Brother, you didn’t brush your teeth, did you?”
Just moments ago moved by her closeness, Zhang Yangfan suddenly sat up on the bed.
“I brushed! If you don’t believe me, smell!”
He opened his mouth and blew a breath toward Duoduo.
Duoduo quickly covered her nose and buried her small head in the blanket.
Feeling her disgust, Zhang Yangfan was so upset he wanted to cry.
He snorted, his small figure flashing back to the upper bunk.
“I’m not playing with you anymore!”
“Brother, are you mad?” Duoduo let go of his hand and asked softly.
Zhang Yangfan huffed proudly, waiting for Duoduo to come comfort him.
But the next moment, a soft, childlike voice came from the lower bunk.
“Great, now I get to sleep alone on one bed, no one’s squeezing next to me.”
Zhang Yangfan: “...”
Wait a minute, wasn’t Duoduo supposed to coax him?
When Ling Yun was mad, Duoduo said she’d apologize next door.
Why now that he’s mad, she’s glad?
The little sister is way too biased!
The next day, as Ling Yun opened the door, he saw Duoduo standing outside.
She lifted her tender white face, looking up at him with big, hopeful eyes.
“Daddy, are you still mad at Duoduo?”
The little one’s voice was soft and innocent.
Looking at her chubby little face, Ling Yun was momentarily stunned: “Hmm?”
“Daddy, Duoduo won’t say anymore that the doll you gave is ugly.
It’s not ugly at all. Please don’t be angry anymore, okay?”
Duoduo tugged at Ling Yun’s pants, swinging back and forth.
Ling Yun glanced over at the doll resting on the wooden table, frowning slightly.
Looking closely, it was a bit ugly indeed!
Should he go get another one?
Ling Yun hesitated but gave up in the end.
Though the little oddball from Room 16 liked dolls, she was infamous for being violent.
None of the dolls at her home were likely intact.
Bringing one back would only mean more sewing and mending—a waste of time!
“Daddy, why aren’t you saying anything? If you don’t talk, I’ll just assume you’re not mad anymore!”
“Hmm!” Ling Yun answered coolly.
Duoduo’s round eyes lit up: “Great, Daddy’s not mad at Duoduo anymore!”
He’s not mad and she’s this happy?
Ling Yun furrowed his brows, turned to the wooden table, and picked up the ugly doll.
He walked slowly over to Duoduo and stuffed the doll into her arms.
“Here you go!”
“Is this for me?”
Duoduo blinked, looking at him uncertainly.
Yesterday she thought Daddy was going to give the ugly doll to her unborn little sister!
“Keep it with you. Don’t lose it!”
Ling Yun looked down at her, laying down a “military order.”
He was genuinely worried she might toss the doll into the trash when he wasn’t around.
“Daddy gave it to me, Duoduo likes it a lot. I promise I won’t lose it.”
Duoduo happily hugged the ugly doll, as if holding a precious treasure.
The little oddball was hidden inside the doll, blending perfectly with it.
Being hugged by Duoduo made the little oddball uncomfortable; she stirred slightly.
Duoduo exclaimed, lifting the doll up.
“Daddy, it just moved!”
“You must be imagining things!” Ling Yun gave the doll a warning glance, afraid to scare her.
The little oddball met his eyes and immediately obediently stopped moving.
Duoduo stared at the doll for a long time and, seeing it didn’t move, scratched her head in confusion.
Just now, she clearly felt the doll in her arms move!
The little oddball thought to herself: “This old fox cares so much about this little ghost, I have to find a chance to scare this little ghost to death!”
“Give it a name!”
Ling Yun’s voice slowly reached the little oddball’s ears.
She immediately perked up, eagerly awaiting her name.
With a name, she would have an identity in the eerie forest.
This name was incredibly important to her!
After much thought, Duoduo suddenly had an idea.
“Daddy, can I call her Ugly?”
Ugly?
You’re ugly. Your whole family is ugly!
The little oddball was furious.
That name sounded extremely insulting.
She expected Ling Yun to scold the little one harshly and give her a new name.
But after waiting for a long while, all she heard was Ling Yun’s indifferent response: “If you like it, that’s fine.”
“Great! My Ugly has a name!”
This name won’t do; she refused to accept it!
The little oddball was furious, wishing she could crawl out of the doll and strangle Ling Yun to get a new name.
But she dared only to imagine, not act.
She could only sulk quietly and shed tears.
When she cried, a tear appeared beneath the doll’s eyes as well.
Duoduo raised her small hand and wiped the doll’s tears away.
“Ugly, are you so happy you’re crying?”
Ugly: “…”
How on earth did this cursed little ghost know she was very happy?
Duoduo hugged the ugly doll all day, singing and talking to it, which annoyed Ugly.
Zhang Yangfan sat beside Duoduo, looking at Ugly with jealousy.
Fine, fine, first Duoduo clung to Ling Yun, now she’s inseparable from the doll.
Looks like he’s the odd one out in this family.
Stinky little sister, if he pays attention to her again, he’s a puppy!
“Woof woof...”
Zhang Yangfan couldn’t hold it for even five minutes and gave in.
He shamelessly nudged Duoduo with his elbow.
“Sis, put down Ugly and play with me!”
“Brother, it’s not called Ugly.”
The little oddball was stunned, thinking she misheard.
She had just been feeling hopeful that the little ghost finally had a conscience and would change her name.
But the next moment, the childish voice sounded again.
“Her name is Ugly!”
Ugly: “…”
Stop emphasizing her name. Isn’t it enough that she’s accepted it?
On the fourth day since entering the Sweet Home instance, Duoduo was still asleep when the broadcast announced a new challenge.
All players would draw lots to exchange families.
Players would spend three days with their new families in their new homes.
Duoduo woke up late and missed the lot drawing.
The remaining Room 10 became her new home.
In Room 20, Siyue held a small slip of paper, trembling uncontrollably.
It was the lot she just drew, on which a bright red “1” was written.
How could this be? Wasn’t Duoduo dead? How is Room 1 still around?
