Before its teeth could touch the tender skin of Duoduo, a large hand suddenly grasped her neck and threw her off the bed. The little eerie creature, even smaller than a newborn baby, crashed against the door with a loud bang. Lin Jianyue woke up just in time and covered Duoduo’s ears to prevent her from being awakened by the noise.

But in the next moment, she saw the little eerie creature and cried out in alarm, “She is my daughter! General Ling, please don’t kill her!” Lin Jianyue’s voice trembled. The little eerie creature thrown by Ling Yun was her child who had not yet been born in the future. She quickly pulled her back, appearing in front of the little eerie creature and shielding her behind herself.

“Get lost!” Ling Yun’s voice was cold and deep, his eyes filled with murderous intent. Just as he was about to strike, the baby lying on the bed suddenly turned over. Ling Yun paused and looked toward Duoduo. Seeing that she was still sound asleep, he silently erected a barrier beside the bed. The barrier separated Duoduo from them, so the noise on this side would not wake her.

Seeing Ling Yun’s action, Lin Jianyue inwardly felt something was wrong. Thinking of his special feelings toward Duoduo, she hurriedly tugged at Ling Yun’s sleeve. “General Ling, she is Duoduo’s elder sister. Please, for Duoduo’s sake, don’t kill her!”

Zhang Yangfan was awakened by the commotion next door and half of his body passed through the wall. Seeing Ling Yun full of hostility, he was frightened and quickly withdrew. “Why did my little sister run next door?” Zhang Yangfan was uneasy and secretly peeked again. Seeing Duoduo sleeping soundly without any disturbance, he breathed a slight sigh of relief. Turning his head, he saw Ling Yun and Lin Jianyue standing side by side facing him. At Lin Jianyue’s feet was a wrinkled little eerie creature.

Zhang Yangfan noticed that Lin Jianyue’s level had changed. Originally an SS-level, she was now showing signs of dropping to S-level. Yet the little eerie creature at her feet was S-level. The little eerie creature stood on all fours, tilting her head back, her dark eyes defiantly staring at Ling Yun. Ling Yun glanced at her once, and she nervously averted her gaze.

“If I remember correctly, she isn’t on the registry of the eerie forest and is not considered Duoduo’s sister!” Ling Yun stared coldly at the little eerie creature and spoke with icy detachment.

He knew Zhang Yangfan was spying, but he didn’t want to deal with him at the moment. Suddenly, he raised his hand and choked the little eerie creature in midair. The little eerie creature’s body was lifted, her wrinkled face turning bright red from holding her breath. She clawed at her neck, trying to remove his hand. However, the gap in strength was too great; despite her best efforts, she could not break free.

“General Ling, she... she’s useful to Duoduo!” Lin Jianyue blurted out anxiously. Ling Yun slightly relaxed his grip, waiting for her to continue.

“General Ling, the Sweet Home mission only lasts seven days. After seven days, we will be separated from Duoduo. We are registered eerie creatures and cannot always be by Duoduo’s side, but she can!” Lin Jianyue nervously clutched her clothes, trembling all over. She was taking a gamble, betting on how special Duoduo truly was to Ling Yun.

“She is just a human little girl. Why would I care if she lives or dies?” Ling Yun’s voice was cold and emotionless. Lin Jianyue’s eyes darkened, and she collapsed weakly to the ground. Had she gambled wrong? Duoduo did not hold that much importance in Ling Yun’s heart. Then her daughter must be...

“Take care of your daughter. If she dares to disturb my peaceful dreams again, I will shatter her soul and spirit!” Just as Lin Jianyue was sinking into despair, Ling Yun suddenly threw the little eerie creature back to her. She had just breathed a sigh of relief and hadn’t yet thanked him when the little eerie creature tore open her belly and quickly crawled back inside. Mother and daughter merged, and Lin Jianyue’s level rose back to SS-level.

“Thank you, General Ling, for showing mercy!” Lin Jianyue thanked Ling Yun and slowly got up from the ground. Zhang Yangfan’s head was still hanging over the wall, stunned. No wonder an eerie creature that looked like a hanged ghost could be SS-level—it was a mother and child duo!

“Still not going back?” Ling Yun’s voice suddenly reached his ears. Zhang Yangfan met his warning gaze and foolishly smiled in return. “I’m going now!” he said, retreating quickly.

Having said that, he quickly pulled his head back. Remembering that Duoduo was still next door, he wanted to crawl back over but then abandoned the thought. Ling Yun, the old eerie creature, had spared that little eerie creature for the sake of his sister. This showed how important the sister was in Ling Yun’s heart. She was safe next door!

Next door, Ling Yun withdrew the barrier and lay down beside Duoduo. The scent of milk by his side made him instinctively move closer to her. During the day, Zhang Yangfan had been around, and his unpleasant odor had masked the sweet milk scent of the little bundle. Now that he was closer, he realized the little one smelled pleasantly fragrant.

After what had just happened, Lin Jianyue no longer had the face to lie beside Duoduo. She returned to her own cot, watching Duoduo’s soft, tender little face. Although Ling Yun wouldn’t admit it, she knew he had spared her daughter because of Duoduo. It was Duoduo who saved them both; she must treat Duoduo better!

In room 20, Siyue lay beside the eerie mother, her almond-shaped eyes wide open. Though she was exhausted, she didn’t dare close her eyes. The eerie mother treated her well, taking her as her own child. But her two “brothers” were ravenous eerie creatures. Every time they looked at her, it was as if she were a delicacy, sometimes even drooling in front of her. If not for the eerie mother stopping them, they might have devoured her already.
