"What is it? Liuying!"

Hearing Jiang Liuying's cry, Su Ye felt his heart tighten immediately. In this place, one could lose their life at any moment.

Without a second thought, Su Ye rushed into the house. The dwellings here were built against the city walls, much like simple mud huts in a village. Reaching the entrance, Su Ye delivered a powerful kick.

*Bang!*

The door shattered instantly.

Su Ye braced himself, channeling all his internal energy, ready to strike at the first sign of an enemy. However, as he stepped inside, he found no chaos. Under the warm glow of the firelight, the room felt tranquil.

To his astonishment, Jiang Liuying was suspended in mid-air. She was wearing Su Ye’s white shirt, but it was completely unbuttoned, revealing a glimpse of alluring white skin beneath.

Su Ye’s mind went blank as the scene seared itself into his memory.

"Ah..." Jiang Liuying seemed unaware of why she was floating. As she slowly rotated, she spotted Su Ye and screamed, "Su Ye, save me! Get me down! What are you just standing there for? Help me down!"

Su Ye’s throat bobbed. He thought to himself that he had never expected such a charming, feminine side from this girl.

Suppressing his racing thoughts, he scanned her and realized nothing was holding her up; she was levitating on her own.

"It’s the energy within you!" Su Ye grabbed her flailing, fair hands and immediately sensed the chaotic, rampaging energy coursing through her. It was a tyrannical force, pulsing with a dark, magical power.

Su Ye was all too familiar with this energy; a similar demonic bloodline resided within his own sea of consciousness.

"It’s my energy! Pull me down! My father said that if I forcibly awakened my bloodline, I wouldn't be able to control it!" Jiang Liuying suddenly remembered.

She was not yet eighteen, and according to her family's traditions, she shouldn't have attempted an early awakening. But in her anger to defeat Su Ye, she had forced the process. Now, she was losing control.

"Steady!" Su Ye pulled her hard. As if losing gravity, Jiang Liuying tumbled down, crashing directly into him. Su Ye caught her instinctively to avoid hurting her.

"Su Ye, did you see? My hands—they were covered in red spots, and there were black ones too! My hands, my stomach, my..." She spoke in a panic before looking down and realizing she was wearing nothing but an unbuttoned shirt.

She froze. Her mind buzzing, she gritted her teeth and shrieked, "Damn you, Su Ye! Did you see everything? You pervert! I’ll gouge your eyes out!"

*Bang!*

Clearly, Jiang Liuying was overcome with shame and rage. She grabbed a chair and hurled it at him.

"Jiang Liuying, have you lost your mind?" Su Ye cursed, leaping backward just in time to avoid the impact.

"You bullied me! You did it on purpose! I’m going to kill you, chop you up, and feed you to the dogs! You absolute freak!" She grabbed a second chair.

Ducking and retreating toward the door, Su Ye said with a wry smile, "I know, I know you want to tear me to pieces, but could you please put on some clothes first?"

"Ah!"

Another scream pierced the air.

Su Ye covered his ears and bolted outside.

A short while later, Jiang Liuying emerged, brimming with fury. Her cries had already alarmed Gangjin and several other Jiang family warriors nearby.

"Miss, what happened?"
"Miss, are you alright? Are there enemies?"

Jiang Liuying stood there, face flushed with embarrassment. Even with her boisterous personality, she couldn't bring herself to explain.

Su Ye took the opportunity to chime in, "Nothing, nothing! We just spotted a rat. You all go back to rest. I’m going to discuss some cultivation matters with Liuying."

Jiang Liuying caught on and waved the warriors away before whispering, "I’m keeping a tally of this debt! I’ll settle it with you when we get home!"

"Now, tell me what happened," Su Ye asked with genuine concern.

Jiang Liuying swallowed her pride and explained everything. Shortly after she started changing, she noticed red star-like spots appearing on her skin—signs she had seen on her father before. It was clearly the manifestation of the Undying Demon Blood.

"It seems to be the cursed blood of the Jiang family," Su Ye comforted her. "Don't worry, we'll find a solution once we regroup." Though he spoke calmly, he was deeply troubled. This meant the demon blood was integrated into her very lineage. Even if he had absorbed the blood from Jiang Ziyang, it still manifested in Liuying.

"Do you feel any discomfort now?" Su Ye asked, secretly worrying about the demon blood in his own mind. Even the *Three Thousand Yanhuang Tribulations* couldn't erase it—would it eventually grow?

"I'm fine for now, but my cultivation level keeps fluctuating," she pouted unhappily.

Seeing she was safe, Su Ye felt relieved. After a brief conversation and a quick meal, they found places to sleep. Though they were in a city, the living conditions were poor, but no one complained.

Su Ye was exhausted and fell asleep as soon as he closed his eyes.

Not long after, the sky began to brighten. Su Ye’s eyelids fluttered. He sensed a strange presence outside. It was a sensitivity he hadn't possessed before, but since practicing the *Three Thousand Yanhuang Tribulations*, he seemed able to anticipate danger in his surroundings.

He opened his eyes, landed silently, and crept to the window.

Outside, Wu Yan and Wu Bozhong stood not far away, accompanied by an old man. The elder stood straight, his stature suggesting he was at his physical peak. Most notably, the man had a unique totem tattooed on his face—it looked like flames at first glance, but blurred upon closer inspection.

"A Gu Shaman!" Su Ye’s heart sank. He hadn't expected a Gu Shaman to appear, and this one was different from those he had encountered before.

"Heh, it seems Brother Su Ye is awake. Why not come out and chat?" Wu Yan called out toward the house.

Su Ye felt a twinge of disappointment; he thought he had hidden his presence well. Yet, the three men kept a respectful distance, suggesting they weren't here for vengeance.

"Morning, everyone!" Su Ye said, stepping outside with an air of nonchalance.

Gangjin popped his head out from a neighboring room but remained silent.

"Su Ye, you must have had some incredible fortune to survive the Wrath of the Gu King unscathed," Wu Yan said. "Let me introduce you. This is Elder Beifei from the Guye Village. He is a Gu Shaman, and he has come specifically to find you."

"Guye Village? What is your relationship with the Fotian Ding Village?" Su Ye recalled the map he had studied with Ouyang Yunfeng, which listed four major Gu Shaman forces, including Guye.

Elder Beifei laughed heartily. "Everyone knows Guye and Fotian Ding are blood enemies! They want to monopolize the ancestral shrine and claim they are the only true successors of the Gu King. It’s a joke."

Su Ye understood immediately. The Gu Shaman villages had always been at odds.

"I heard you displayed great power last night and killed that old man, Miaba!" Beifei continued. "Well done! To think you are a legendary figure who doesn't fear the 'Gu King’s Sharpening Blade.'"

Wu Bozhong coughed. "Su Ye, Elder Beifei has something important to discuss with the Jiang family."

"With the Jiang family? The young miss is inside," Su Ye replied.

"I mean the person who truly calls the shots for the Jiang family," Wu Bozhong added quietly.

Beifei looked at Su Ye, then spoke bluntly, "I won't mince words. I’m here to ask you to kill someone."

"Kill someone?"

"Today is the second day of the 'Gu King’s Sharpening Blade.' All the forces in Thunder City will meet today, including the surviving Gu Shamans from Fotian Ding. And, of course, another enemy of yours—the Yu family."

Su Ye’s fists clenched. A chill ran down his spine. If the Yu family was there, would Luo Gui, Yu Zhisha’s grandmother, be there too? The old hag who had stolen his six lightning meridians?

"You know quite a lot about me," Su Ye said coldly. He realized he was being used as a pawn, but the opportunity to face his enemies was too great to ignore.

"The Gu King’s Sharpening Blade is why everyone fears you now," Beifei noted. "But in two days, every enemy you have will hunt you down. No one likes living in fear."

"Why wait until today to act against the Yu family if you are enemies?" Su Ye asked.

"Because only during these three days of the 'Gu King’s Sharpening Blade' can the Lightning-Inducing Beads be used to open the second level of Thunder City."

Su Ye’s eyes ignited with intensity. "In that case, I will go kill."
