Chapter 74: A Moment of Enchantment
Before long, a large space had opened up in the center of the bar’s dance floor. Most of the people here were passionate, energetic young men and women, and they quickly retreated to the sides, watching this sudden “performance” with great interest.
The Wolf King stood close to one meter ninety, towering over Chen Erpao, the disparity between their builds evident to all. Many onlookers seemed to already envision Chen Erpao being battered and bloodied in the near future, their faces alight with excitement.
Having heard of Chen Erpao’s reputation, the Wolf King did not dare be the least bit careless. His expression was solemn as his sturdy waist twisted, launching his massive frame forward with blinding speed. His enormous fist shot out straight, and even before it drew close, the force of the wind was already palpable.
In terms of sheer strength, the Wolf King was indeed formidable. Yet Chen Erpao’s lips curled into a faint smile. With a swift sidestep, he instantly dodged to the side and delivered a sharp elbow strike.
The Wolf King was astonished by his opponent’s speed, but his hands never dropped their guard. He retreated rapidly, blocking with his arm as he did so.
A muffled “bang” sounded. The Wolf King’s towering body staggered back three steps before he managed to steady himself, while Chen Erpao stood unmoved. In the blink of an eye, Chen Erpao struck again, both fists raining down in a furious assault. To the average spectator, it looked like a storm of fists ravaging the air.
With a roar, the Wolf King unleashed both fists and legs, his thick, powerful limbs sweeping with the force of a thousand pounds, sending tables and chairs flying in all directions.
Chen Erpao remained mostly on the defensive, only occasionally launching a swift counterattack. It wasn’t that he couldn’t handle the Wolf King—had he attacked at full strength, he could have ended the fight within three moves. But he chose instead to prolong the struggle, stalling for time.
Within a few more minutes, Wang Xing should arrive with his men. If they failed to come, he would have to curse his luck and look for another chance to break out with Chen Liu.
Brother Snake, watching from the sidelines, had never placed much faith in the Wolf King, given Chen Erpao’s formidable reputation. Yet, seeing the Wolf King seemingly holding the upper hand, a satisfied grin spread across his face.
Chen Liu, unaware of the true situation, grew increasingly tense as she saw Chen Erpao’s position grow ever more precarious. Her small hands clenched tightly with worry.
At that moment, Brother Snake’s gaze shifted to Chen Liu. In his eyes, Chen Erpao’s defeat was only a matter of time, and the beautiful young woman before him was far more alluring. Her full, proud chest, slender waist, snow-white skin, and flawless, youthful face—even someone as experienced in matters of the flesh as he was felt desire stirring within him. He thought to himself that once Chen Erpao was dealt with, he would certainly claim this woman for his own; it was the best possible outcome.
Minutes ticked by—nearly ten in total. Seeing no sign from the doorway, Chen Erpao’s eyes narrowed. He prepared to reveal his true strength and finish the Wolf King swiftly. Just then, a sudden clamor erupted.
Wang Xing led the Ten Iron Guards and Liu Huagang through the entrance like a pride of tigers descending the mountain, unstoppable as they charged in. The ten or so enemies blocking the door were instantly felled.
Seeing this, Chen Erpao relaxed and smiled, casting a cold, clear glance at the Wolf King.
The Wolf King instantly sensed danger. In that fleeting moment, Chen Erpao’s entire demeanor transformed: he became invincible, a flood of attacks pouring forth.
His fists flashed like lightning, each blow sharp and forceful. Only then did the Wolf King realize his opponent was on a far higher level than himself. Still, his pride spurred him on—he fought brutality with brutality, a wolf and a tiger locked in savage combat.
After three exchanges, the Wolf King collapsed, his face bruised and swollen, unconscious on the ground. Chen Erpao stood tall and proud in the center of the dance floor, surveying everything around him with the air of a king.
“Not good!” A sudden cry broke the moment as Chen Erpao exploded into motion, dashing toward Brother Snake at lightning speed. But he was still a step too late—Brother Snake had already pressed a sharp knife to Chen Liu’s neck.
Now utterly alone, Brother Snake, seeing the situation turn against him, resorted to this despicable act despite his status as a gang leader.
“Don’t come any closer! Did you hear me? Back off! Or I’ll kill her!”
Chen Erpao gestured for everyone to stand down, then began advancing slowly, speaking as he did: “Brother Snake, your fight is with me. Let her go—she’s just a classmate, of no real use to you. I’m different. Why not take me instead? If you can bring me to the Celestial Alliance, you’ll have earned a great merit. What’s today’s loss compared to that?”
A flicker of hesitation crossed Brother Snake’s face before he seemed to make up his mind. “Fine. Come over, but don’t try anything, or I’ll kill her.”
Blood was already seeping from Chen Liu’s neck, her face full of terror. Yet when she saw Chen Erpao willing to risk himself to save her, she was deeply moved, suddenly glimpsing a side of this mysterious man that was loyal and full of feeling.
“Brother Pao, be careful.” Wang Xing, knowing Chen Erpao’s character, realized that once a decision was made, nothing could sway him—not even the gods.
Chen Erpao nodded, reassuring everyone with a calm smile. Step by step, he approached. As he drew near, Brother Snake shoved Chen Liu aside and grabbed him, pressing the blade to his throat.
“Heh heh, you never thought this day would come, did you? Once I hand you over to the Celestial Alliance, they’ll have plenty of fun tormenting you. Ha ha!” Brother Snake laughed triumphantly, all trace of defeat gone.
“Is that so?” A voice cold and emotionless rang out. Startled, Brother Snake barely had time to react before it was too late.
In a flash, Chen Erpao’s head snapped backward, smashing into Brother Snake’s face with a thud. Stars exploded before Brother Snake’s eyes as if he’d been struck by a thousand bees.
Chen Erpao’s expression was icy. His right hand shot out, seizing Brother Snake’s wrist and wrenching it until a crisp crack signaled a broken bone. Sweating from the pain, Brother Snake’s face turned ashen, and the knife clattered to the floor.
Seeing the opening, Wang Xing and his men quickly closed in. Brother Snake, realizing his predicament, turned and fled despite the pain. Chen Erpao cast him a disdainful look, then stooped, picked up the knife, and flung it with force. The blade whistled through the air and buried itself in the back of Brother Snake’s head. Perhaps to his dying breath, Brother Snake never imagined he’d die by his own knife.
“Erpao!” As a delicate voice called out, a graceful figure threw her arms tightly around him from behind, her soft body and faint fragrance overwhelming his senses.
Chen Erpao turned, smiling gently, and stroked Chen Liu’s hair. “It’s all right now. As long as I’m here, everything’s fine.”
“Mmm.” Chen Liu, like a little girl, buried her head deep into his chest, her full, firm breasts pressed tightly against him. Chen Erpao, with his years of experience, didn’t need to look to know what shape those ample curves must have become.
A few meters away, Wang Xing stared, eyes wide and mouth agape, as if unable to believe what he was seeing.
Noticing Wang Xing’s expression, Chen Erpao quickly eased Chen Liu away and offered a word of comfort. After all, he had an official girlfriend, and being so intimate with another woman in public wasn’t appropriate—not even with someone he had no real feelings for. A boss had to maintain his image. Besides, he worried Wang Xing might accidentally let something slip to Wang Xuemei; that would be trouble.
Chen Erpao then instructed Wang Xing to seize the moment and sweep up the rest of Brother Snake’s operations that very day, taking full control. Now that the largest force in Tuen Mun, the former Hongxing Tuen Mun branch, had joined the Celestial Alliance, they would surely try to intervene if they caught wind of this. The only way was to consolidate power before they could react—once the meat was in their mouth, it wouldn’t be easy to spit it out.
Wang Xing nodded, watching Chen Liu’s retreating figure as she left with Chen Erpao. Something seemed to occur to him—hadn’t he seen her with Li Ziyang not long ago, the two looking very much like a couple? Now she was with Erpao—could it be they were involved as well?
“Impossible,” Wang Xing muttered to himself with a sly grin. Knowing Chen Erpao as he did, he sensed there must be more to the story.
Like Chen Erpao, Chen Liu didn’t live on campus but rented a small apartment offsite. The events of the night had left her shaken, her face still pale as she sat in the car.
Chen Erpao escorted her home and, after a few words of comfort, was about to leave when Chen Liu suddenly leaned in, her soft body collapsing into his arms.
“Don’t leave me, don’t leave me, I’m scared,” she said, her voice trembling, her reddened eyes fixed on him.
Chen Erpao couldn’t bring himself to walk away coldly. They sat quietly together for a while. Then, after several minutes, Chen Liu suddenly raised her head and pressed her soft lips to his.
Chen Erpao was momentarily stunned, watching those lips draw closer, seeing even the delicate tip of her tongue. He didn’t pull away—their passion flared instantly. Before he could take the initiative, Chen Liu grew even bolder, her tongue slipping into his mouth, teasing him. The two soon tumbled onto the bed, though from any angle it looked as though Chen Liu had overpowered him.
Before long, Chen Erpao felt as if he were on fire. This rare beauty, so ardent and eager, demanded a passionate response, which he gave. Yet it was purely physical—for all her beauty, Chen Liu had once been Li Ziyang’s woman, and her vanity and materialism meant he would never accept her emotionally. Even if she became his, it would be in body only, never in heart.
With a swift movement, Chen Erpao rolled over, pinning Chen Liu beneath him, his heated body pressing against her delicate flower, his large hands kneading her firm, full breasts.
Chen Liu’s eyes were already glazed with desire, her face flushed with passion, her lips parting to let out soft, low moans.
