Chapter 91: Want to Beat Me Up?
Huanhuan had spent years drifting through the nightlife scene, and she never spoke delicately; her words were sharp and venomous. The instant she finished, Zhang Sisi exploded. She shouted back, “You filthy bitch, you’re the one throwing yourself at him! I have nothing to do with him. Let me make this very clear: I have absolutely nothing to do with him. I don’t even know him, and I don’t know whether he’s some kind of big cannon or a second-rate cannon!”
At that point, Chen Erpao and the others, including Wang Xing, were all caught between laughter and tears. Things had somehow escalated to this. Huanhuan had clearly been trying to flatter him and make up for her earlier mistake, but her words had only lit the fuse on a powder keg.
A woman like Huanhuan was a seasoned expert at brawls and verbal sparring, so she immediately fired back without losing ground. “So what if I’m a filthy bitch? Better than someone who wasn’t wanted and still keeps shamelessly clinging on. Our Brother Erpao hasn’t even spared you a glance. Why don’t you hurry up and leave? If you’re smart, you’ll stop pestering him from now on, or you’ll be the one suffering.”
The two women traded insults back and forth, one line after another. The music in the bar had already stopped, and only their voices remained. The young men and women gathered around watched their showdown with great relish.
Zhang Sisi was only a small, apparently tough and fiery woman. How could she possibly be a match for a woman like Huanhuan, who had long ago weathered every storm in such places? After several rounds, she was left speechless.
Chen Erpao had originally wanted to use Huanhuan’s mouth to wear down Zhang Sisi’s temper. But looking at the situation now, if this went on, it would only hurt her feelings. Though the girl was a bit willful and even more hot-tempered, and though she had repeatedly gone head-to-head with him, he had never taken it seriously. He had simply treated it as a little woman throwing a tantrum.
He was just about to tell them to stop when something completely unexpected happened. Zhang Sisi suddenly lashed out with a flying kick and sent Huanhuan crashing to the floor. Huanhuan’s fairly pretty face twisted immediately in pain, and tears nearly spilled from her eyes. But she reacted at once and rushed back in to retaliate.
“Enough! Are you two done yet?” Chen Erpao barked loudly. The shout landed like a thunderclap on a clear day, and everyone froze.
Zhang Sisi paused slightly, but she did not stop. Before Huanhuan could recover, she kicked at her again with great force, then followed with a flurry of punches like a storm of fists and rain.
“Huh, this girl’s got some moves. She even fights a bit like taekwondo,” Chen Erpao said in mild surprise. He had originally worried she might suffer a loss, but now it looked as if there was no need to worry at all. Fine, let her hit away. She should vent all the anger in her heart, and at the same time teach Huanhuan a lesson. A woman’s quarrels were hardly worth a man’s interference, and since Huanhuan had been too clever for her own good and far too talkative, she had brought this on herself. Sometimes, when it came to women’s matters, men were better off turning a blind eye.
Wang Xing had been about to stop them, but seeing Chen Erpao suddenly fall silent, he grinned and seemed to understand something.
The few-minute women’s combat tournament finally came to an end. Zhang Sisi seemed to have vented most of the anger in her heart and looked much calmer. Huanhuan, on the other hand, had swollen eyes, a crooked mouth, and bruises all over her face. Even the swelling on her ample chest made her look as though she had been through a botched cosmetic surgery from head to toe. She was practically a human piglet. At this point, how could she dare say another word? When she looked at Zhang Sisi, her eyes were full of both shock and fury, and she was afraid Zhang Sisi might rush at her again.
Just as Zhang Sisi had quieted down for a moment, she suddenly turned her beautiful eyes on Chen Erpao with obvious hostility. “This is all your fault. I hate you to death! Tomorrow I’m applying to transfer to the criminal investigation unit. I’m going to carry a sidearm, and then I’ll shoot you dead.” As she spoke, two crystal tears actually slid down her cheeks.
Seeing her like that, Chen Erpao truly felt terribly guilty. Such a delicate beauty, crying so miserably because of him.
He had wanted to go over at once and comfort her, but with so many people watching, it would not have looked proper. So he pulled her into a private room. Zhang Sisi had originally refused to budge, no matter what, but the moment he teased, “Do you want to beat me up?” her tears stopped instantly, and she even looked excited, as though a long-awaited vengeance were about to be fulfilled.
“Let me make the rules clear first. One, no hitting the face. Two, no hitting my little brother. Three, no pulling my hair. Four, you only get one punch.”
Zhang Sisi was grinding her teeth in hatred, but her pretty face was still damp with tears. Combined with the grin she wore now, Chen Erpao felt more and more that she looked like a willful little girl—except that certain places on her were definitely not little.
Zhang Sisi snickered and did not strike immediately. Instead, she slowly circled around him. Just as Chen Erpao was about to speak, a pink fist suddenly flashed toward him.
“Damn, you’re really sneaky. So despicable,” Chen Erpao said, clutching his left eye. The eye was one of the weakest parts of the human body, and he had not defended himself at all. This little woman had struck hard enough that he was definitely going to end up with a black eye.
“You’re vulgar. Did you think I was easy to bully?” Zhang Sisi said, looking as though she had finally avenged herself. Her mood brightened instantly, especially when she saw his left eye already turning into a panda eye.
Chen Erpao did not feel the slightest pain; he had simply not expected her to hit his eye. If Wang Xuemei saw him go home with a black eye, who knew how he would explain it? But seeing the relieved smile on Zhang Sisi’s face, he felt it had all been worth it. At least she would not keep making trouble for him in the future, would she?
Yet her next words made Chen Erpao feel at once that the punch had been wasted.
“Let me tell you something. Don’t think that because I’ve already punched you once, we’re even. Hmph, I’m not letting this go that easily. I’ve never suffered such a huge grievance in my life. Unless you let me hit you again—no, twice, no, three times—then I’ll let it go. Otherwise, from now on, every time I see you, I’ll settle old scores.”
Chen Erpao said with a bitter face, “You violent woman, one punch still isn’t enough? There’s no more fighting, and now you’re talking about the future? Do you even know who I am? I’m a gangster boss. If I wanted, I could sell you off to some mountain village on the mainland as a second wife. I’ve heard the women bought there are locked up with chains and only allowed to have children. They’re not allowed to do anything else.”
“You...”
Zhang Sisi was once again enraged, half羞 and half furious, and with a swing of her pink fist she lunged straight for his right eye.
After so many days of nonstop updates, this book has continued without a single break. No matter how busy I have been, One Leaf Green has never missed a day. Although the updates have been fewer during this period and there have no longer been the fixed two or three chapters a day as before, I still hope everyone can understand. New Year’s is almost here, and things really are a bit hectic, but no matter how busy it gets, the updates will never stop. After a while, the pace will pick up fiercely again...
