What do you want?
Qin Yu looked at Mu Qingxi, who was crying so heartbreakingly, and choked out, "Mu Mu, please tell me, what's really wrong with you?"
But Mu Qingxi ignored everyone, stubbornly refusing to budge from her stand-off with Xi Haifei.
At last, Qin Yu wiped away her tears, took a deep breath, and scolded angrily, "Mu Qingxi, what do you want from us? Do you think we have nothing better to do? It's the middle of the day, school just let out, and we rushed over to see you. Look at yourself now—have you seen how haggard your parents look? Do you even care about us at all?"
Mu Qingxi understood everything Qin Yu said, but she just couldn’t get past this hurdle in her heart. Slowly, she let her arms fall to her sides, and only then did Qin Yu help her up.
Her clothes were filthy from the smashed pomegranates, and after she sat down on the bed, Qin Yu pointed at her and scolded, "Look at you—what do you look like now? Even a beggar is better off than you."
Mu Qingxi glanced at Xi Haifei standing beside her bed and said, "You should go. I don’t want to see you."
She didn’t want anything—she just didn’t want a stranger to see her in such a sorry state.
"Mu Mu, get some rest. You just woke up, your body isn’t well yet. Once you’re better, you can do whatever you want." Xi Haifei, ignoring her words, picked up a broom and dustpan and began cleaning up the mess on the floor.
Today, Xi Haifei was dressed in a loose black tracksuit. His wheat-colored skin didn’t make him look dark—on the contrary, he looked rather handsome. Suddenly, she said, "Xi Haifei, do you know who you remind me of? You’re just like my father. No matter how angry you get, you never lose your temper with me. I can accept you as my friend, but why did things have to happen between us before? Why?"
"Mu Mu, what things in the past?" Xi Haifei asked, puzzled.
Mu Qingxi forced a smile and replied, "It’s nothing, really. Xi Haifei, you’re a good person, you truly are, but I don’t like you. I won’t date you. Please don’t keep pestering me."
That was all she could say. She didn’t like Xi Haifei, so why give him hope by stringing him along?
Xi Haifei said nothing. After sweeping the floor, he mopped up, put everything away, and finally looked at Mu Qingxi. "Mu Mu, liking someone isn’t as simple as saying you like them or you don’t. You have the right to refuse me, but you don’t have the right to deny my feelings."
He fixed his gaze on Mu Qingxi for a while before leaving the room.
Qin Yu didn’t say anything either. She merely sat there peeling an apple. If she wanted to oppose Xi Haifei, she would have refuted him immediately, but she didn’t. It seemed she agreed with what he said.
She couldn’t refute his words, because he wasn’t wrong—she had no such right.
But what did she really want? Was it just because she didn’t like Wang Feiyan, so she "boycotted" everyone around her as well?
"Weiyu, where’s Wang Feiyan?" Mu Qingxi suddenly remembered and asked Qin Yu.
Qin Yu hesitated for a moment before replying, "Wang Feiyan is in the hospital too. I don’t know exactly what happened. I don’t know what happened between you two, but right after you were admitted, she was as well. I think she’s still in the hospital."
Puzzled as to why Wang Feiyan was hospitalized too, she asked, "You don’t know what happened to her?"
"No, I don’t. The only thing is, everyone was worried about you that day. I only heard from Xi Haifei afterward that Wang Feiyan was admitted too. I didn’t ask for details, and besides, it doesn’t really concern me."
Mu Qingxi asked again, "Weiyu, which department is she in?"
"Strangely enough, Mu Mu, she’s in the obstetrics and gynecology department! That’s right—why didn’t I think of it sooner? Mu Mu, could it be that..."
Qin Yu suddenly clapped her hand over her mouth, staring at her in shock, her meaning all too clear.
