Mu Qingxi widened her eyes again, staring at Bai Fanhao who lay on the floor with a wicked grin. Her first instinct was to grab something to steady herself.

But the space around her was empty; nothing could help her regain her balance and stop herself from falling further.

The only thing she could cling to was the hand gripping her wrist—but that hand was the very reason she was losing her footing in the first place.

There was no way it would help her stand!

With a loud thud, Mu Qingxi collapsed.

At the same time, Bai Fanhao let out a stifled groan, but the upturned corners of his mouth betrayed his good mood.

Before Mu Qingxi could collect herself, Bai Fanhao quickly said, “Qingqing, sneaking in here in the middle of the night, were you planning to…”

Lying atop Bai Fanhao, Mu Qingxi’s face flushed instantly with anger. “Shut up, Bai Fanhao! What do you mean, sneaking in?”

Bai Fanhao replied, “Did I invite you in?”

“Excuse me, but this—is—my—house!” Mu Qingxi gritted her teeth, emphasizing every word.

“Ah!” Bai Fanhao was stunned. Her house? This was Mu Qingxi’s home? How did he end up here? No way! He asked again, “Is this really your house?”

Mu Qingxi looked at Bai Fanhao’s doubtful expression and felt conflicted. What on earth did he mean by that? If it wasn’t her house, was it his? She said nothing, struggling to get up.

Sensing her struggle, Bai Fanhao tightened his grip, refusing to let her rise, pulling Mu Qingxi down so she remained sprawled atop him.

Mu Qingxi’s face turned scarlet with rage as she cursed, “Bai Fanhao, you pig, let go! I want to get up.”

Bai Fanhao laughed, “You were the one who came in on your own, and you’re the one lying on top of me, aren’t you?”

“I’ll say it again, this is my house. And don’t try to play the victim—I was trying to help you up, and you dragged me down!” Mu Qingxi was genuinely seeing the most shameless side of Bai Fanhao for the first time.

Bai Fanhao kept up his act, “Who told you to knock me over?”

Mu Qingxi closed her eyes, took a deep breath, then opened them and said, “Why aren’t you in bed, hiding behind the door?”

“Who told you to come in without knocking?” Bai Fanhao retorted, stubborn and unreasonable.

Mu Qingxi was exasperated, nearly at her wits’ end. “Do you knock when you enter your own house?”

“I know it’s your house, but you can’t just come in during the middle of the night!” Bai Fanhao suddenly sounded a little aggrieved.

“You…” Mu Qingxi was utterly frustrated. What kind of person was this? She had come with good intentions to check on him, only to be treated as a trespasser and nearly captured. Luckily, she was trained—otherwise, he would have caught her for sure.

The thought alone was infuriating! Now, restrained, she couldn’t fight back, so without thinking, she slammed her head hard into Bai Fanhao’s chin.

Bai Fanhao was speechless at Mu Qingxi’s sudden move and the pain that followed. Wasn’t this a bit too violent?

Yet, seeing Mu Qingxi’s angry expression, Bai Fanhao felt an inexplicable joy. It was the first time he had ever rendered Mu Qingxi speechless with fury, and the first time he had seen her so adorably flustered.

Unexpectedly, she was so cute when angry—her forehead bumping his chin, even if it hurt.

This lively anger was far better than her usual icy indifference or those insincere smiles. At least like this, she was spirited and full of life—not cold and lifeless.

Bai Fanhao thought for a moment and finally decided to say, “Qingxi, don’t be so cold and distant in the future—it really hurts people.”

Mu Qingxi was taken aback. She gazed at Bai Fanhao, who was now so close to her, and Bai Fanhao looked back at her.

The two of them simply stared quietly into each other’s eyes.
