Bai Fanhao made up his mind without a trace of hesitation. He glanced down at Mu Qingxi, who lay lifeless in his arms, and his resolve only grew stronger.

Although he wasn’t afraid of death or pain and could handle a fight against these people, it was still a matter of one against several. More importantly, he had to consider Qingxi’s safety. She was unconscious, her face severely injured, and needed urgent medical attention. Any delay would only worsen her condition.

“Wait, I have something to say,” Bai Fanhao called out just as the next wave of attackers was about to strike, urging them to hold back.

He carefully cradled Mu Qingxi closer to his chest, then turned to face Wang Feiyan.

“Feiyan, if you let her go now and take her to the hospital, I’ll do whatever you ask,” Bai Fanhao said earnestly.

Though his face remained calm, his heart was pounding in his throat as he awaited her response.

“I’ll let you do whatever you want,” Wang Feiyan repeated, withdrawing her arm from Wu Li’s grasp and addressing Bai Fanhao. “Is that so? Mu Qingxi certainly holds a lot of weight. Well then, I agree.”

Though unconscious, Mu Qingxi faintly caught snippets of the conversation. Upon hearing Wang Feiyan’s agreement, Bai Fanhao immediately said, “Good. Step aside and let me take her to the hospital.”

As Bai Fanhao hurriedly gathered Mu Qingxi in his arms, Wang Feiyan blocked his path.

“Fanhao, I didn’t say you could leave,” she said sternly.

Bai Fanhao stopped and silently stared at her. “Feiyan, you just said you’d let Qingxi go,” he said, waiting for her to continue.

Wang Feiyan, sensing Bai Fanhao’s anxiety for Qingxi, hesitated before replying, “Fanhao, how do I know if you’re telling the truth? What if I let you go and you all disappear? So you’ll have to do as I say first, alright?”

Wu Li, who had been silent until now, spoke up: “Yeah, Feiyan’s worries aren’t baseless. Let’s do what she says before releasing them.”

Hearing Wu Li’s support, Wang Feiyan felt a surge of satisfaction. Inwardly, she thought: Hmph, Fanhao, you really think I’m that naive? If I let Mu Qingxi go and leave only you behind, without any worries, with your skills, there’s no way you wouldn’t escape from here.

If that’s the case, since he could sneak in unnoticed, there must be others coming as well. This place is desolate and isolated, but if Bai Fanhao managed to get in this way, what about the others? They cannot be underestimated.

Wu Li had realized this earlier, which was why he had quietly instructed his men just now, “This place isn’t safe. Move out!”

Unbeknownst to anyone, Wu Li’s men had already begun packing up, preparing to leave the abandoned factory.

Bai Fanhao asked, “Wu Li, are you really siding with Wang Feiyan against us?”

“Ha ha ha,” Wu Li laughed loudly. “Fanhao, why wouldn’t I? Don’t you know the old Chinese saying: ‘The enemy of my enemy is my friend’? So, I’m more than happy to see Wang Feiyan deal with you.”

“Wu Li,” Bai Fanhao’s tone turned sharp with accusation, “what grudge do you and Wang Feiyan have against Mu Qingxi to treat her like this?”

Wu Li’s laughter only grew louder.

He looked at Mu Qingxi and Bai Fanhao and said, “A deep grudge? Of course there is. But I’m not going to tell you. Just pray you make it out alive today! Ha ha ha…”

Wu Li’s words, along with the burly man’s, left Bai Fanhao utterly confused. How had he and Mu Qingxi offended them? No, he had to find out clearly.

“Wu Li, if you’re going to kill us, at least let us understand why!” Bai Fanhao demanded.

Wu Li nodded thoughtfully. “You’re right. It can’t be all so vague. In that case, I’ll give it some thought.”
