Chapter 102: Rabies
Mu Qingxi was bundled up in a puffy white down jacket, round as a snowball, forming a stark contrast to the stunning yet “freezing” beauty standing before them, Xu Ting.
Xu Ting’s tirade didn’t faze Mu Qingxi in the least, but it infuriated the others standing by her side.
Bai Fanhao’s pale face, already drawn from a sleepless night, grew even darker, as though a torrential downpour was imminent.
Xi Haifei clenched his fists tightly, struggling to contain himself—he would never hit a girl, but with Xu Ting’s venomous tongue, who could blame him for being tempted?
Even Guo Chen looked thoroughly displeased, raising a fist as if to strike her.
It wasn’t that the three boys wanted to attack a girl—it was simply that Xu Ting’s words were too vile. Her insults weren’t just aimed at Mu Qingxi, but also Qin Yu, and she made veiled jabs at Xi Haifei and Bai Fanhao as well.
She accused Mu Qingxi and Qin Yu of currying favor with the higher-ups; otherwise, how could girls of their looks and talent become hosts for the event, and even have the chance to attend the University of Media? Clearly, they must have cozied up to the leadership…
What Mu Qingxi was wondering at this moment was how Xu Ting even knew that the hosts for this event would have a chance to attend the University of Media.
Frowning deeply at Xu Ting’s relentless abuse, Mu Qingxi raised her voice, “Xu Ting, shut up! I have a question for you—”
Xu Ting spat, “What right do you have to question me? And why should I answer you?”
Ignoring her, Mu Qingxi pressed on, “Who told you that the hosts would get a chance to attend the University of Media?”
Xu Ting sneered, her face flushed with anger. “You think I don’t know?”
“Who told you?” Mu Qingxi cared only about this answer.
The others standing around her, hearing her persistent questioning, sensed something was amiss. Only the upper administration and the selected hosts themselves knew about the opportunity to attend the University of Media—how did Xu Ting find out?
All eyes turned to Xu Ting, demanding an explanation. It was as if she’d been waiting for this moment. She looked at them with a mocking expression and said, “Someone asked me to relay a message. She said she’ll be waiting for you all at the University of Media, and hopes you won’t disappoint her. She especially hopes Mu Qingxi will come!”
Xu Ting paused, then eyed Mu Qingxi, Bai Fanhao, and Xi Haifei. “She said it would be best if the three of you come together—then she’ll be truly happy.”
Mu Qingxi immediately knew who Xu Ting was talking about. Here, no one hated her more than Wang Feiyan.
What she hadn’t expected was that Wang Feiyan had already made her way to the University of Media.
Bai Fanhao and Xi Haifei also realized who had sent the message. However, as far as Mu Qingxi knew, Xi Haifei didn’t have the privilege of attending the University of Media without taking the entrance exam—unless he applied during the college entrance exam.
Mu Qingxi could already imagine that if she ended up at the University of Media, campus life would be anything but peaceful with Wang Feiyan there—she would never have a moment’s quiet. She would truly need to consider carefully whether or not to go.
Before Xu Ting could spew any more nonsense, Bai Fanhao’s summoned helpers arrived. Xu Ting let out a sharp shriek, which was instantly muffled as one boy clamped a hand over her mouth. Two others dragged her away by force.
At last, peace returned. Qin Yu exhaled loudly and laughed, “Mu, don’t bother with them. You’ve all been bitten by a mad dog who never got a rabies shot—just a bunch of rabid dogs.”
Mu Qingxi smiled. “It’s nothing. That’s all for the future. For now, let’s hurry to the exam—if we don’t, we’ll have to take the make-up.”
“Exactly! Hurry up! The end-of-term exam is no casual quiz!” At Mu Qingxi’s words, Qin Yu panicked, shouted, and took off running, leaving the other four still standing there.
