Transform into a panda
The next morning, upon waking, Mu Qingxi stared in surprise at Bai Fanhao before her. How had he turned into a panda overnight? She resisted the urge to ask and simply said, “I’ve brought you a new set of toiletries. Hurry up and wash up, or you’ll be late.”
Bai Fanhao muttered an “Oh,” and went into the bathroom.
Inside, Bai Fanhao looked at himself in the mirror. His already somewhat long hair was a mess, like a bird’s nest, and his once fair cheeks had changed. He glumly eyed the bluish circles beneath his eyes. Was it really necessary for him to look like this just because he hadn’t slept for one night? He often stayed up before and never had such dark circles!
He whispered to himself, “It must be Wu Li’s little follower—I got hit so hard, I turned into this!”
Mu Qingxi had intended to enter the bathroom to bring him a towel, but as she reached the door, she saw Bai Fanhao vigorously patting his own eyes.
She spoke up, “Bai Fanhao, are you trying to pat your eyes or slap your face?”
Bai Fanhao reflexively turned to the doorway, looking at Mu Qingxi, and said, “Why didn’t you knock before coming into the bathroom?”
Hearing this, Mu Qingxi really wanted to kick him, but she restrained herself. She tossed the towel she was holding toward Bai Fanhao, turned to leave, and said, “Wipe your face and hurry up. Today is the mock exam. If you dawdle any longer, you’ll be late!”
Bai Fanhao caught the towel—or rather, pulled it off his head, his expression shifting between light and dark, looking rather odd.
When Mu Qingxi, Bai Fanhao, and Mu Qingyang finally left the house, Mu Qingxi’s face was full of anger, and Mu Qingyang obediently followed her.
Bai Fanhao looked at the “fury crowned” Mu Qingxi, hesitated, then seemed to steel himself and said, “Mu Mu, I’m sorry.”
Hearing those three words, Mu Qingxi was briefly surprised, then returned to her previous expression, waiting for Bai Fanhao to continue. It was no wonder she was surprised; Bai Fanhao’s apology was as rare as Xi Haifei’s—neither ever said “sorry.”
Bai Fanhao awkwardly glanced at Mu Qingxi.
Mu Qingxi shot a look at Mu Qingyang behind her.
Mu Qingyang blinked, hurriedly said, “Um, Sis, you and your classmate go ahead. I’ve got something to do, so I’ll leave first,” and with that, dashed off, soon disappearing from sight.
“What’s wrong with your brother? You just looked at him once and he ran off?” Bai Fanhao asked curiously.
Mu Qingxi glanced at the spot where Mu Qingyang had vanished and replied, “Nothing. Didn’t he say he had something to do? Let’s hurry, or we’ll be late. I don’t want the homeroom teacher nagging at me.”
Bai Fanhao realized Mu Qingxi was trying to change the subject and didn’t want to mention this morning’s incident again, though it really hadn’t been intentional.
He hadn’t known the packet of ketchup was broken. If he had, he would certainly have been careful.
Mu Qingxi knew Bai Fanhao hadn’t meant it, but she was still furious. He’d ruined one of her clothes—a gift from her grandmother.
Who could have guessed how unlucky she’d be this morning? While eating breakfast, she wanted to spread some sauce on her bread, but Bai Fanhao insisted on helping. The moment he took it, he squeezed the packet, and the ketchup shot out like a jet, landing straight on her clothes.
The pure cotton, white shirt was ruined, and her expression changed instantly.
Mu Qingyang was equally terrified, anxiously looking at Bai Fanhao.
In the end, their mother told her to quickly go change, saying maybe it could still be saved, so she hurriedly changed clothes.
She hadn’t eaten breakfast, and the three of them left home just like that.
The shirt her grandmother had given her wasn’t much, and she could always get another one, but her grandmother had passed away this year, so she would never receive another gift from her. That was why Mu Qingxi was so upset.
