Chapter 105: The Beautiful Girl
As Mu Qingyang sat in the classroom, just about to eat his breakfast, he suddenly sneezed. He had no choice but to put down his food, rub his nose, and mutter to himself, “Great, my sister must be talking about me again.”
In front of Mu Qingyang sat a girl with a ponytail named Liu Yan. Her fair skin, thick eyebrows, bright eyes, and rosy lips made her an adorable beauty. She turned around, concern in her voice, and asked, “Qingyang, are you alright? Did you catch a cold? I happened to bring some cold medicine today, let me get it for you.”
As she spoke, she was already reaching into her bag for the medicine she had prepared.
Mu Qingyang quickly waved his hand. “No, no, I’m not sick.”
The girl's brilliant smile faded in an instant, replaced by disappointment as she quietly replied, “Oh,” and turned back around.
Mu Qingyang felt a headache coming on as he watched her. It wasn’t that he was immune to adorable girls—he simply didn’t like her. How could he lead her on when he had no feelings for her?
He picked up his breakfast again, determined to eat, but Liu Yan spun around once more. Was she never going to let him eat in peace?
Sighing, he set his breakfast down again, a bit exasperated. “What is it now?”
Liu Yan gathered her courage and asked, “Qingyang, do you not like me?”
Mu Qingyang almost choked. What was going on?
Before he could say anything, Liu Yan continued, “I know you don’t like me. You like the girl in the photo in your wallet, don’t you?”
The girl in the photo in his wallet?
Mu Qingyang’s mood soured instantly. “You went through my wallet!”
Liu Yan hurriedly waved her hands, shaking her head and stammering, “No, no! That one time, it fell on the floor and I picked it up, that’s when I saw it.”
Realizing he had wronged her, Mu Qingyang apologized. “Sorry, I misunderstood.”
Liu Yan looked at him, her heart full of disappointment, but still she said, “Qingyang, you looked so sad staring at that photo that time. Could you… tell me about her?”
Mu Qingyang smiled sweetly at his breakfast, not noticing how Liu Yan’s eyes filled with sadness and hurt at the sight of his smile.
After finishing one bun, Mu Qingsi, who was just reaching for a second, suddenly sneezed. Bai Fanhao, concerned, asked, “Did you catch a cold? I’ll go buy some medicine.”
Mu Qingsi wrinkled her nose and quickly grabbed Bai Fanhao, who was about to stand up. “No need, it’s probably just Qingyang talking about me. You haven’t even eaten yet, sit down and eat.”
She pulled Bai Fanhao down and handed him a bun.
Bai Fanhao looked at Mu Qingsi with a hint of mischief and said, “This is the first time you’ve given me anything to eat, I’m honored.”
“Oh, stop it. Less talking, more eating,” Mu Qingsi replied carelessly.
Bai Fanhao asked, “Why would Qingyang be talking about you? Did he steal your breakfast again?”
Mu Qingsi took a bite of her bun, chewed and swallowed before replying, “I wouldn’t give him any pocket money, so he steals my breakfast instead. Who knows where he’s showing off now, probably thrilled he managed to snatch my breakfast today and that’s why he’s talking about me.”
Bai Fanhao shook his head in disbelief. “I’ll never understand you siblings, but I guess that’s what makes you close—bickering and all.”
Back in Mu Qingyang’s classroom, he was still grinning foolishly. It might have looked silly, but he radiated happiness, completely oblivious to the way Liu Yan’s face was growing more and more rigid.
Liu Yan, who had promised herself to be strong, found her resolve crumbling as she watched Mu Qingyang continue to ignore her, his silly grin never fading. Her forced smile grew stiff, her lips slowly drooping until she couldn’t smile at all anymore.
