Chapter 103: A Fine Figure
A middle-aged man's voice came through the phone.
"Yes," Shen Qing replied, quickly walking away from the crowd until her surroundings grew quieter.
"Miss Shen, your package has arrived. Where are you now? I can bring it to you."
"Just drop it off at No. 1 High School. I'll pick it up later."
"Alright, I'll leave it at the security office. Remember to collect it."
"Okay." Shen Qing hung up and glanced toward the basketball court; the girls' voices were no longer as loud.
She slipped her phone into her pocket and turned toward the teaching building.
"Shen Qing."
"Not playing anymore?" Shen Qing looked back to see Gu Ting running over from a short distance away. His bangs were damp, a few strands clinging to his forehead.
Gu Ting had his jacket draped over one arm and smoothed his hair. "Yeah, I'm done."
After a couple of seconds, he called out again, "Shen Qing."
"Yes?"
Gu Ting looked at her, "I'm thirsty. Could you buy me some water?"
Shen Qing narrowed her eyes. "What?"
"Please," Gu Ting blinked, his eyes dark and clear, reminding Shen Qing of their family's second dog...
"Alright," she agreed.
"Take my phone, the password is six sixes," Gu Ting said with a smile, handing her the phone.
Shen Qing glanced at it but didn't take it, simply walking away.
Watching her retreating figure, Gu Ting stood still for a few seconds, the curve of his lips growing wider.
**
Shen Qing grabbed a bottle of water at random. While paying with WeChat, she noticed a message from Gu Ting.
[G: I'm in the office.]
She scoffed softly, finished paying, and slowly made her way to the office with the water in hand.
The office door was ajar. Shen Qing knocked, her hand landing with enough force to swing the door open.
Gu Ting was standing sideways, changing clothes inside. He was halfway through, and Shen Qing caught a glimpse of his pale waist and abdomen.
Before, she'd only noticed how handsome he was. Now, seeing him like this... well, his muscles were tight and his lines clear.
Gu Ting glanced at her and tucked in his shirt, speaking, "You're here. Just leave the water on the table."
"Alright," Shen Qing replied slowly, then just as slowly placed the water down.
"I forgot to close the door just now," Gu Ting explained.
"Mm," Shen Qing kept her eyes lowered, betraying no emotion.
The silence hung for several seconds before Gu Ting unscrewed the cap and drank a long gulp.
"I'm heading back," Shen Qing said, glancing at him. His Adam's apple bobbed noticeably, his jawline was clean and sharp, and below it, his white collarbone stood out.
For no reason, she found herself thinking of abs...
"Okay," Gu Ting replied, screwing the cap back on.
"I have plans tonight, I won't be coming."
Gu Ting paused with the bottle in hand. "Alright, I got it."
Shen Qing shot him a look, turned to leave, and suddenly stopped at the door, glancing back.
"What's wrong?" Gu Ting asked with a smile, as if wondering if the girl couldn't bear to leave.
Shen Qing's gaze darkened; she hesitated for several seconds. "Nice figure."
Then she added, "That's a good waist."
Gu Ting's smile froze; her casual words made his earlobes flush, growing warmer and warmer.
Once she had vanished from sight, he touched his brow and let out a silent laugh. Today, he'd actually been teased by a girl—and so openly.
The more Gu Ting thought about it, the wider his smile grew, until finally he couldn't help but laugh aloud.
He picked up his phone and opened Shen Qing's WeChat. After a long moment, he sent a message.
[G: Good eye.]
**
Having run Gu Ting's errand, Shen Qing didn't return to the classroom but went straight downstairs toward the school gate.
"Shen Qing, skipping class again?" It was the security guard who'd asked her for an autograph before.
It was the third period of the afternoon; the school gate was open just a crack.
Shen Qing glanced at the old man. "Uncle, my package is here, right?"
He thought for a bit. "Yes, this must be it." He pulled a small box from under the desk.
"Thank you," said Shen Qing, taking it.
"Hey, Shen Qing, you still haven't signed for me—exam papers don't count."
