Chapter 94: A Brick to the Head?
Shen Qing curved the corner of her mouth, lifted the iron rod, and blocked to the side. Metal crashed together with a sharp clang.
The thug behind her had his arm numbed by the impact. His rod slipped from his grasp and clattered at his feet, while the fear in his eyes only deepened as he looked at Shen Qing.
“No... it wasn’t me. Don’t hit me.”
Shen Qing smiled, her face radiant in the sunlight.
“You really think this boss title is something I was given for nothing?”
She glanced back at the crew-cut man, and his heart turned cold. Half his body went stiff.
The man who had launched the sneak attack felt his heart leap into his throat as he stared at Shen Qing in terror.
“Ah!”
Before he could even run, Shen Qing had already seized him by the throat.
“Recognize this?” She held the powder up before his eyes.
“No... I don’t.”
“Oh?” Shen Qing narrowed her eyes, picked up her phone, and slammed it into his head.
The crew-cut man on the ground watched in dread. She... she actually carried a brick with her.
“Qingqing, done?” After Xia Mang finished off the others, she saw the scene of violence on Shen Qing’s side.
“Mm.”
The beaten man’s head was ringing. Something warm seemed to be running down his face, and before he could react, he was thrown to the ground.
The crew-cut man went cold all over. Seeing the two terrifying women approach, he was on the verge of tears.
“Where did it come from?” Shen Qing held the powder and asked for the last time.
“Sis, it’s just ordinary flour. You can buy it at any supermarket. I was just trying to act tough—I really don’t know anything.”
“Still not talking? Fine, you go.” Shen Qing pointed at Xia Mang.
“Me?” Xia Mang blinked, then took the iron rod and walked slowly toward the crew-cut man.
“You... what are you going to do?” Terror flooded the crew-cut man’s eyes as he staggered back on his half-crippled body.
Xia Mang licked her lips and smiled, like the grim reaper from hell.
“Something you’ll remember for the rest of your life. We picked this place well, didn’t we? Even if you scream yourself hoarse, no one will come.”
The crew-cut man’s eyes flew wide open. So that was it. These two women had deliberately come to this secluded alley, waiting for them to walk right into the trap.
Xia Mang raised the iron rod and brought it down toward his lower abdomen.
“I’ll talk!”
The rod stopped about an inch from him.
“Then hurry up!” Xia Mang kicked him impatiently.
The crew-cut man swallowed hard, looking as though he had narrowly escaped death.
“It... it was taken from a small thug in Ember City. He still has people above him. That’s all I know.”
“And one more thing.” He paused, glancing at the two of them before going on. “Someone from your school asked me to come cause trouble for you.”
“Who?” Xia Mang looked at Shen Qing. The head of the school really had no presence at all.
“I don’t know. It was paid through the internet. No name was given. Please, ladies, I’ve told you everything. Don’t hit me.”
“Look at how pathetic you are.” Xia Mang shot him a disdainful look, tossed the iron rod at his feet, and made the crew-cut man tremble uncontrollably.
Shen Qing lowered her head and made a call on her phone.
The crew-cut man stared fixedly at her phone. This... wasn’t that a brick?
The city public security bureau in Fern City.
Director Wen smiled as he escorted them out of the conference room. “Mayor Lin, Director Lan, this way, please.”
Lin Feng smiled and walked out shoulder to shoulder with Lan Xinqiao. Halfway there, Lan Xinqiao’s phone rang.
“Sorry, I need to take this call first.” She glanced at the caller ID and smiled at the others.
Lin Feng and Director Wen nodded to show it was no problem.
“Miss Shen, what is it? All right, I’ll bring people over right away. Mm.”
Lan Xinqiao ended the call, her expression grave.
“Is something the matter, Director Lan?” Lin Feng asked.
Lan Xinqiao smiled. “Nothing serious, Mayor Lin. Director Wen, you two go ahead first. I need to handle something on my side.”
“All right, then please take care of it first.” Director Wen nodded, then smiled at Lin Feng. “Mayor, this way please.”
Lin Feng glanced at Lan Xinqiao. She was already walking toward another exit.
The secretary opened the rear car door for Lin Feng, and he got in and sat down. “Where did Director Lan just go?”
He had a feeling something was about to happen.
The secretary smiled. “Mayor, I just saw Director Lan take people toward the First High School side. It seems to be a group fight, and it sounded pretty serious.”
At the mention of First High School, Lin Feng frowned. Shen Qing was also at First High School—and she was one of its top girls.
“You keep an eye on it for me. See whether one of the people involved in the fight is named Shen Qing.”
His wife had specifically told him to help take care of Shen Qing whenever possible.
“Understood. I’ll have someone check later.”
