Chapter 86: Second Girl Appears
Shen Qing glanced at Xia Mang as if she were looking at an idiot, then continued playing her game. She trapped the other little snakes within her grasp, waiting for them to devour each other. Just then, the doorbell rang.
Shen Qing lifted her head, tossed her phone aside, and got up to answer the door.
“Are you Miss Shen?” The young courier smiled at her, a trace of amazement flickering in his eyes.
Shen Qing nodded coolly.
“Your package. Please sign here.” He presented a large box. Shen Qing glanced at it, signed the delivery slip, and carried the box inside.
Xia Mang came over. “What did you buy? This box is huge!”
“It was sent to me,” Shen Qing replied as she tore off the tape with her bare hands and opened the box.
Xia Mang craned her neck to peek inside. Suddenly, a small, furry shape leapt out, startling her.
“Woof!”
Holy crap! It even comes with sound effects!
Shen Qing shot Xia Mang a look of disdain, then bent down to pick up the yellow puppy from the floor. It was beautiful—its fur bright and lush, its body neither fat nor thin, and it looked quick-witted.
“Er Niu, this is Tian Dafei. Say hello.” Shen Qing grabbed Er Niu’s little paw and waved it at Xia Mang.
Xia Mang’s mouth twitched violently.
“This dog is so small. Is it male or female?” Xia Mang took Er Niu from Shen Qing’s arms and turned it over to check.
Shen Qing’s expression darkened and she stopped Xia Mang’s action. “Pervert.”
“I—” Xia Mang was speechless. What could she possibly do to a dog?
“Er Niu is just over a year old. Female,” Shen Qing said as she went to sit on the sofa.
“Oh.” Xia Mang followed, still holding Er Niu.
The puppy was very well-behaved, not making a sound.
Suddenly, a thought crossed Xia Mang’s mind and she burst out laughing. “Qing Qing, your Er Niu doesn’t just pee and poop everywhere, does she?”
She pictured Shen Qing, face cold as ice, cleaning up after Er Niu…
Oh my! That image was priceless!
Shen Qing shot her a sidelong glance. “She’s smarter than you.”
“Screw you, Li Gou Dan! Want me to have Brother Long teach you a lesson?” Xia Mang slammed the table.
Shen Qing smirked. “I’m not afraid.”
“Ugh! When will I ever get to meet Brother Long?” Xia Mang leaned back on the sofa, pulling a handful of dog hair, which made Er Niu protest loudly.
Shen Qing’s fingers paused. Then she stood up. “Give Er Niu something to eat. I’m going to sleep.”
“I’m a guest, not a nanny!”
But Shen Qing ignored her and went straight to her room.
On WeChat, there was a message from Gu Ting sent half an hour ago.
[G: Did you take the day off?]
Shen Qing’s gaze darkened.
[User Not Found: Yes. Sorry I didn’t tell you.]
[G: It’s fine. Rest well. I’ll bring you breakfast tomorrow.]
Shen Qing glanced at the message but didn’t reply. She opened her computer, logged into another account, and was immediately met with over a dozen messages. She selected the last few to read.
[Wolf: You really found me an accountant, huh?]
[Wolf: Is it a girl? I want someone pretty.]
[Wolf: I’ll pay fifty thousand a month. Is that too out of character?]
[Wolf: Gou Dan! It’s been so long with no news. Are you shirking responsibility?]
Shen Qing rubbed her brow. What kind of people did she even know?
[User Not Found: That salary is too low.]
It was several minutes before the reply came.
[Wolf: Come on! I just run a vegetable stall—am I supposed to pay a hundred million?]
[User Not Found: That’s acceptable.]
[Wolf: Damn! You’re ruthless. Sixty-six thousand, not a cent more. Who did you find for me? Can they actually keep books?]
[User Not Found: No idea.]
Wolf nearly spat blood. The other party’s status showed offline.
Suddenly, he felt he’d been scammed…

Xia Mang got along well with Er Niu at home. When Shen Qing went to school, Xia Mang would take Er Niu out for a walk.
“Qing Qing, want some breakfast before you go?”
“No, I have class.”
Xia Mang glanced at the clock—it was seven-thirty. Morning study should be over by now.
Shen Qing climbed over the wall into school. Nearby, in the small grove, she saw a not-unfamiliar figure.
“Jiaxuan, you’ve never smoked before, have you?” Several boys were gathered, puffing away, looking quite pleased with themselves.
Yu Jiaxuan hesitated, pouting. “Who says so? I just don’t smoke such cheap cigarettes.”
Qin Lin kept a tight leash on him—truth be told, Yu Jiaxuan had never touched a cigarette.
The boys burst out laughing.
Embarrassed, Yu Jiaxuan snatched a cigarette, took a hard drag—
And coughed violently. “Cough, cough, cough!”
The boys roared with laughter. “Jiaxuan, you call that smoking?”
Yu Jiaxuan glared at them. “I just… inhaled too quickly!”
“Come on, let big brother show you how it’s done…”
Shen Qing glanced at them indifferently, then turned and walked away.
